They fell exactly as they should have without any fictitious charges
The top of the North Tower which was hit first,
would have fallen 8 to 10 floors and the careened outward in the direction of impact ( northward) because of the opposite resistance of the massive steel columns. Basic common sense should tell you that.

Not even the massive amount of weight of the upper South Tower collapsing could have overcome the upward force from those columns and gone straight down at near freefall speed without 'help. It would have toppled toward the southeast.

What should have remained would have been two giant stumps, not piles of pulverized steel and concrete all the way to ground level. It's impossible.
