Will any poster want to go to Las Vegas?

I had the opportunity to go there twice for free, once through work, once through an ex-gf who wanted to treat me (since she knows I enjoyed poker).

In both instances I declined.

I've been half a dozen times between 1969 and 2012. The first time was exciting for a young guy. After that, not so much. Continuous grabbing for your wallet as everyone in that city is looking for a way to separate a sucker from their money. You can have it.

I went to Vegas many times when I was young especially when I was heavy into sports betting. But it just doesn't appeal to me anymore. As you say it feels like it is just one big flashy hustle with none of the charm it used to have.

I have been to Las Vegas several times in my adult life, and I've found that the culture changes over time. I DO NOT GAMBLE at all, but I think it's worthwhile to spend time there, just to watch the people and experience what they have (that big ball thing?). There have been times when you could go there and have a reasonably good time at a modest price. At that time, they seemed to expect to make money on gambling, and everything else was just to make you happy so you would stick around and gamble more.

I can afford to pay a lot for food and beverages and a room, but I don't do that. I just don't do it. I think I'll go there again just to prove to myself that I can do it at a reasonable cost.

better to sleep in the desert , camp out.

IDK. The free drinks and reasonable meals are gone. Low cost flights are still around if you shop, but lodging isn't much of a deal anymore. Buffets that charge over $50 are ridiculous. LOL, quite a difference from the $2.99 baron of beef buffet that used to be common.

I have gone to Reno to beat the dealers and managed to beat them all.

Back in the days, I would gamble at Reno and when hungry, hit a blackjack table and get very fine dinners.

I lived within striking distance of Reno/Tahoe for close to 50 years and I don't gamble. LOL, I was pretty good at getting reasonable meals, skiing, lodging and free drinks though. Its not nearly as easy anymore.

Generally, when I would go to Vegas, it was with a girlfriend or on business. And Vegas shows.
I've seen my share of shows in Reno/Tahoe and always found cheap tickets or got comped. LOL, I used to take it as a challenge. I don't live anywhere near anymore, so I've moved on.
