10/2020: Solar is now ‘Cheapest Electricity in History’, confirms IEA

I live in Nebraska , our electric rates have gone down, we are the ninth lowest for electricity in the nation. Those wind turbines are all over the place and they're phasing out the last coal plant. In Omaha the air used to be hazy , now it's clear.
. It's a WIN-WIN
I was disappointed with Biden's infrastructure bill. He's good about working with corporate America. I could see a day when all the industrial parks in our cities serve dual purposes and profit-sharing with them and utilize those areas for solar panel fields instead of taking agricultural land to do so. I even wrote the president and suggested it. Got a generic thank you letter back , was hoping for more.

That's just Rooftop Solar pygmy brain.
We are talking Big Solar Power Plants and the percent of generation nationally which, along with wind, Rises every year.
IOWA is now 63% Wind, with other plains states close behind.

`
Yes, electric rates are rising because of wind energy

Insurance companies don't like paying for the fires they caused.

In most cases those fires are caused by other equipment, cables and wires, not the panels themselves. No definitive studies here in the US. But a German study indicated they represent less than 1% of the instillations. And again , other sources were the problem in most cases. The aging electrical grid represents way more problems than solar or wind could ever create.

The electrical grid is fine and should be as it used to be, local and efficient.

The More government gets involved the more expensive and less efficient but we have democrats making the rich richer.

You asked for a reason there is not more rooftop solar, fires is one reason.

The utility is asking to raise its rates to cover added operation costs, support grid resiliency and allow future growth, Hawk said.

IPL is moving overhead power lines underground to decrease the number and the length of power outages. Frequency and duration of Alliant outages have decreased by about 30 percent over the last decade as more lines have moved underground, Hawk said.

The utility also is expanding its fiber network among several facilities in Iowa. These upgrades ensure reliable communication throughout the energy system during emergencies and outages.

Alliant is diversifying its energy mix by incorporating more renewable energy into its portfolio. Its Clean Energy Blueprint calls for the retirement of its coal fleet, increased use of renewable resources and reduction of its emissions in Iowa. Green energy is more cost-effective for customers long-term, creates jobs and tax revenues for communities, and is cleaner for the environment, Hawk said.

“The proposed increases really reflect our investment to continue building a more reliable, sustainable and resilient energy future here in Iowa,” he said.

Yes as I said, increased electric rates due to increased renewables.

Not one cent of that increase was due to increased costs per kWh from wind turbines or solar.

or maybe we just like to argue with stupid people cause it is fun to show that they are, stupid
No , you're like trump , you like to argue for some kind of sick enjoyment, which you've just stated in your own foolish way. Just ask your own computer this question , what is the cheapest form of electricity. As of 2022 it is renewables and that's not going to change no matter how much you say it isn't.

All renewables are subsidized, they are only built, when subsidized.

Renewables are the only form of electricity, that are largely unavailable, hence how can I buy something that you claim is the cheapest, if there is none?

Why are electric rates increasing everywhere we install Wind and Solar?

Why are the subsidies increasing to wind and solar?

Why does everyone say renewables will cost over $150 trillion?

What do you think the current infrastructure based on fossil fuels cost is / was , besides threatening our very lives ( all life ) on this planet ? The end !

You are alive because of fossil fuels.

Renewables increase the use of Fossil Fuels.

Why are you supporting something that is a threat to our lives.
In the real world this argument / discussion is over. Good luck with pushing your agenda , no one is listening. Yes , their are problems with everything in this physical world , we must survive and preferably thrive, and we' ll real with the problems as best we can. This is by no means the final solution. Only death is the great leveler and hides the solution to all the problems we face here.
