Scientists claimed the algae bloom in the San Francisco Bay, which killed over 10k fish, was due to climate change. But it’s now clear that it is due to the failure of local governments to upgrade the region’s antiquated sewage treatment plants.

It’s true that the Bay Area is experiencing high temperatures, but algae blooms are the direct result of the failure of governments to upgrade plants so they remove the nutrients that the algae need in order to grow and bloom in the water.

The rush to blame the climate for environmental change is a prime example of what psychologists call ideologically-motivated cognition.

More than likely they never upgraded their Wastewater Plants to what is called "tertiary treatment", or nutrient removal. NYC had to do this over the past two decades to prevent Algae blooms in Jamaica bay and the Long Island Sound.

Probably they just do Secondary treatment, which uses bacteria and other organisms to remove carbon from the water.

They will continue to use this bloom as an example to scare their low info lemmings into demanding draconian & useless virtue signal actions that are designed to drive us into a reset where the survivors own nothing & do what they are told if they want to eat.

These are upgrades that have been done worldwide to reduce nutrient loads to water bodies, SF is decades behind other locations with similar receiving waters.

Another question is it just SF or is it other municipalities that haven't upgraded? Anyone who lines the bay is responsible. For the Long island Sound not just NYC had to upgrade, but Connecticut and other NY municipalities had to fix their plants.
