10/2020: Solar is now ‘Cheapest Electricity in History’, confirms IEA

Solar is now ‘cheapest electricity in history’, confirms IEA

October 2020

""The world’s best solar power schemes now offer the “cheapest…electricity in history” with the technology cheaper than coal and gas in most major countries.

That is according to the International Energy Agency’s World Energy Outlook 2020. The 464-page outlook, published today by the IEA, also outlines the “extraordinarily turbulent” impact of coronavirus and the “highly uncertain” future of global energy use over the next two decades....."

`
Solar and Wind are thee cheapest energy,

Liar.

What was that?
see above

`
Solar is subsidized, hence not cheap.

If solar was cheap and a worthwhile investment it would not be subsidized

Further, electric rates are going up, and have been, driven by expensive solar.

As well as being expensive and inefficient solar will give us no electricity 330 pm until 930 am.

So cheap is solar it is bankrupt.

The solar industry in California has experienced several high-profile bankruptcies including one of its largest producers, Petersen Dean.

Now, another local solar company has shuttered, leaving homeowners with unfinished systems on roofs that aren't producing any power, not saving money on utility bills, and often there's still the financing of the equipment and installation that the customer is responsible for.

Solar is so cheap, if you Google it, but most of us deal with this thing called reality

/——/ I can fill my ICE car with gas on a cloudy day, even at night. Talk about diversity.

Cost is one penny per mile for electric assist from the grid, and a paid-for solar panel on an ebike takes cost below that amount. Recharging while parked even on overcast days is more intelligent than petroleum addiction bulemia of a finite earth resource.

How many new nuclear power plants should we build for that EV grid?

Everything a solar panel is made of is finite.

Solar panels can charge an ebike? Sure, about 2 acres.

No, just one. It costs $0.25 to charge the battery if grid electricity is used. Fossil fuel is finite: it gets consumed. A panel does not get consumed.

You think we should burn more fossil fuel to charge the EVs?
Sooner or later the petroleum pimp's drug supply runs out because it's a finite supply. Weaning from this burning addiction is the only intelligent approach while recycling and storage tech evolves. The planet can't sustain such current absurd bulemia.

Ok.

A panel uses finite resources to be manufactured.

Panels do get consumed, the larger the load the shorter the life span they have.

Solar panels are very much finite and require massive amounts of coal and oil to manufacture.
