Between the 45th parallels maybe, north or south of those not so much. The related costs of battery construction and replacement, and related environmental and mining costs are an effect that will have bearing now and in the future.

Solar does rely on other energy to produce it, but increasingly that will Be Renewables, most likely solar itself.
That's why they call it 'renewable.'

The only idiot here is you. Solar is not cheaper because it cannot be cheaper. A centralized solar plant requires 300% to 400% more MW capacity than its hydrocarbon equivalent. This in turn requires 3 to 4 times the transmission line carriage ( by far the most expensive part of any power Grid at approximately one million dollars per line mile) which the gets tacked onto the bill as transmission fees....often higher than the actual usage fee.

LOL Tacoma, Washington is north of the 45th. A friend put solar on the East side of his roof, and completely eliminated his electric bill. He hooked it up early January, and in July, go a check for $250 from the utility. Most days in Tacoma are cloudy. You are so wrong about solar.
