Let me see if I have this right. There is a book with a gay character in it. Okay exactly how do we know this character is gay? What are the outward signs? Is there a large G on the forehead? Does he walk around pronouncing they are gay to everyone in the book? If sex is never brought up in the book then tell me exactly how anyone would know that this character is gay, how would they tell them from anyone else?
if sex is brought up in the book then we need to think about this. We do not allow anyone to drink before a certain age. We do not allow them to vote, we do not allow them to marry, smoke, drive a car. If we say things like sex and sexual orientation or hormonal therapy or sexual Reassignment surgeries are all right before a certain age then we may as well remove all the age barriers.
