Zone1 Well regulated militia

Well how did we go from defending their towns to defending the state?
the 2nd amendment??

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

so you have nothing to back up a single claim,,

key word being activate,,

the NG is alwys active even when their not deployed or training because they are enlisted and not civilians,,

a body of citizens organized for military service
Read your link.....it supports everything I said.

It doesn't explain how Congress and Scotus have made laws and interpreted the COTUS to make what we call the NG today.

Yeah and you are correct.

Like I said, history is your friend.

You and your little buddy need to look into the history of the 'regulated militia' and look at the laws Congress passed over the years which changed it to what we have today.

Like it or not..... that's where we are.

I really don't care what laws congress has passed. It's exceeded the meaning of a "well regulated militia" when congress uses them as a standing army to fight foreign wars.

The "well regulated militia" should only be used to fight on US soil to protect the homeland.

what law did they pass that changed the meaning of the word militia??

The Regular Army (called the Continental Army) was created in 1775. It was supported by the militia.

The Founders intent was to always have a small Army, supported by militia. And that's how it was done till WWI. That war witnessed the 2nd large scale mobilization. The first being the Civil War.

Post WWI there was a massive draw down to pre WWI levels. Then WWII came along and it was only after that war, that the US began maintaining a large standing army.

Prior to that it was anathema.

Don't float your ire at me, I've pointed out how we are here today.

No ire. Simply making a point that the national guard is not a "well regulated militia", it's an standing army composed of enlisted personnel serving actively.

A militia is a group of civilians that organize to protect the homeland and may never have served actively in any of the services.
