It is both for us. We are no longer speaking to some family members and definitely have several former friends due major political view disagreements.

How about you?

I have five siblings. We are split down the middle 3 and 3. The anti-Trumpers are vocal about it. We pro-Trumpers are quiet in order to keep the peace. If we acted like the others, they would probably be estranged. My one brother whom I am closest to, had leaned Republican and is now stridently anti-Trump. I told him what I thought after the 2020 steal, and things have never been quite the same between us. Another brother has always been an outspoken Democrat. He’s even more of an ass now. He has no filter.

Last time I was forced to spend any time with him, he spent the entire day bad-mouthing every other member of the family, including our other brother when he wasn't in the room.

It's not just that he supports Trump (he actually soured a bit on Trump after 2020) it's that he's a generally unpleasant human being overall.

I have lost neither over politics.

My family is for the most part far right, my mom still believes that Obama is the Anti-Christ, like literally.

Yesterday after golf we got pizza, all 3 people I played with are right-wingers. They were cracking some Harris jokes that were damn funny. Tough I got some strange looks when I told them I voted for Hari Seldon

No, I don't set myself up for failure or loss. I politely tell either of the liberals in the groups you mentioned, and only if asked, "Sorry, but I don't discuss politics or Covid or religion with anyone." Silence usually ensues.

My issue is someone looking at you as if you’re a lesser person because you dare vote the way you do or think the way you do. Life is too short for that
