I have lost neither over politics.

My family is for the most part far right, my mom still believes that Obama is the Anti-Christ, like literally.

Yesterday after golf we got pizza, all 3 people I played with are right-wingers. They were cracking some Harris jokes that were damn funny. Tough I got some strange looks when I told them I voted for Hari Seldon

Family and friends are far more important than politics.

I stopped talking to my brother and his crazy wife because of their support of Trump and Police Brutality.

It was actually kind of a relief. His wife is batshit nuts when her meds don't work and we all tiptoe around her.

I am kind of horrified that so many otherwise sensible people look at Trump and the disaster that was his first term, and say, "Yeah, we need more of that!"

It is both for us. We are no longer speaking to some family members and definitely have several former friends due major political view disagreements.

I have been 'unfriended' by a few friends and family members who are rabid leftists. I know of nobody on the right who has unfriended anybody because of political disagreements--they might unfriend somebody who is making their lives miserable re sociopolitical positions. My husband, for instance, finally unfriended a niece on Facebook when he could make no posts, however innocuous, funny, benign that she didn't attempt to make toxic with some snarky political comment.

Those on the right can be quite outspoken about how they feel about a migrant invasion, 'wokeism', deep state bad intentions and dirty tricks etc. But with a few small exceptions here and there, those on the right can be very outspoken about what they think, but otherwise allow people to live and let live in peace. There have been a number of cases for example in which restaurant owners refused to serve somebody on the right just because of who they are: Sarah Sanders, JD Vance et al. I know of no cases in which restaurant owners refused to serve somebody on the left just because of who they are.

Those on the left are the ones who are more likely to riot, threaten, accuse, terrorize, punish, destroy those who think differently. And the ones most likely to disenfranchise any who do not think like them.

Rubbed a few classmate friends the wrong way during open political discussions in Highschool in the 1970s but over time they softened up towards me.

Well that's good, I'm glad that they did.

I would not go that far, but it does reflect not knowing what is of true value, to dump long-term family or friends over political beliefs.

I know as there are even people on here I like on a personal level (like you for one) but I cannot stand their politics. Only a select few on here can manage to act civilized when they're debating and Slade3200 is at the top of the list for this. So those are the only people not in my party that I like.
