Facts About the Vietnam War that Liberal Historians Ignore

Some and some. I was a soldier in Vietnam 1966 - 67. In 1967 I met three Viet Kong in black pajamas up at the Buddha on the hill in Nha Trang who offered me a cup of tea. They didn't push me, punch me, grab me, restrain me, capture me, torture me, imprison me, or kill me. As I've already stated, I am a Vietnam veteran. When I hear someone spewing propaganda about it I will tell you it is BS.

That's because the Viet Cong recognized you as a traitor, a "useful idiot," a gullible leftist who would spew their propaganda.

Even the SS occasionally treated captives/enemy soldiers kindly, but this was the exception, not the rule. The Viet Cong did not always, in every single case, murder and torture, but they did so in tens of thousands of cases.

It is just shameful that you are here on a public board denying the profusely documented fact that the Viet Cong were terrorists who murdered tens of thousands of civilians.

The American Military-Industrial Complex (now known as The Deep State) tried to split Vietnam into two parts thinking they could create another Korea. So they started a war by occupying the country, sabotaging Vietnam's National Democratic elections, then bombing the hell out of the place. It took some years and the death of innocent Vietnamese and young American boys but eventually the good guys won and took back their country. The French tried, the Japanese tried and the Americans tried ...... but nope .... the Vietnamese are the victors of their own country. I am a Veteran of that war and I wish that the Vietnamese people will continue to prosper forever.

... the actions of several American Governments after Vietnam prove my point, and some Americans still believe Vietnam war was the right thing to do, probably by most who were there and just can't admit they were lied to and fooled.
I was there in the Central Highlands 1966 - 1967. It took me several years to admit it (or to realize it) but I do. We were all lied to and the blue star my mother had in the window wasn't worth shit. It represented, "Looky here! Our son is spilling his guts in Vietnam just to make the corrupt government and arms industry wealthier than they already are!" Needless to say I became a Vietnam War Veteran Against the War. And what did we get for it ..... rather than listen to us we got police tear gas to disperse us from telling the truth.

Your truth isn't the truth.
It's just your version of the truth.

Strategic policy was blinded by ideology and a knee-jerk reaction to another ideology. "Elections" never happened

More like within months of the agreement at Geneva being made, North Vietnam started attacks on South Vietnam.

Expecting "elections" as they were already being invaded would be kind of like expecting Ukraine to accept elections at this time for unifying with Russia. North Vietnam started insurgency attacks and political assassinations as early as 1955, and repeatedly stated that they had no interest in any kind of unification election until after they ceased. Which obviously never happened, as even when North Vietnam declared they would never attack again at the Paris Peace Accords, the ink was barely dry when they started up again.

WRONG

It was minh who split it into two states.

Minh started the war by attacking the south
Those are facts and you are a liar who knows nothing about the war and who never served

How did he know they were VC? Most Vietnamese country people wore black pajamas if I remember correctly.

The Vietnamese wasted their troops in protracted, ineffective war that only prolonged misery. They did not understand the U.S.

Both sides chose conflict over patience and negotiation. The ultimate outcome was predictable to those who understood history and particularly that of Vietnam. The biggest mistake was Uncle Ho's. He could have just shut up and waited a while for the Americans to (typically) get tired, bored, distracted and leave. That's how it finished anyway. In any case neither side truly cared in any human way about their own nations.

The U.S. was abiding by the UN's restrictions, North Viet Nam wasn't , never did.

Bullshit. My Lai was publicized because it was such an abnormal event. The US couldn’t have hidden atrocities committed by forces that were largely composed of draftees.

And it was American Airborne troops who stopped it.

He probably thinks all Vietnamese were VC. The same way he also seems to think that all of Vietnam wanted to be Communist.

Because the 1 million or so that were thrown into "reeducation camps", fled on anything that could float, and tried to get out of the country any way they could were obviously all dupes.

Oh, and the roughly 1 million that fled North Vietnam after the Geneva Peace Accords.

It's called "whistle blowing" and that is exactly what I am talking about. My experience as a soldier in Vietnam and my later protests would be called "whistle blowing" today but back then it was called traitorous. I'm still here telling the truth about Vietnam and the Bonzo Brigade keep calling it traitorous.

No you are not telling any truth

It finished for the US after 59k US soldiers went home in boxes and the great US people wouldn't tolerate it anymore, there was almost civil war in America because of it, state brutality against anti war demonstrators including the massacre of students at Kent State.

Yes, it is. Created at the same time that North Vietnam was in the Geneva Conference of 1954.

Just because you do not like something does not mean it is not true.
The part you missed out was that separation line between North and South was only meant to be temporary as laid down by the Geneva accords until elections to unite the Country, elections the US and their puppets in the South never wanted because they would have lost.
