I like to talk politics or I would not be here. I like to talk about it with anyone and have absolutely no compunction with telling people exactly what I think. I Have no problem with others doing the exact same.

My mother is a true trumple and constantly says really dumb shit that is obviously and easily shown to be incorrect. Every now and then she will still bring up politics and I will warn her she is not going to like my answer but she will press on anyway.

And after, she is still my mother, still my kids grandma, still a close family member and conversations about politics, no matter how crazy, are not going to change that. Why would it?

A few of my neighbors are exactly the same way and we are still friends after in the exact same manner that we were before.


It says a LOT more about about the one isolating themselves than anyone else if you are so fractured, so weak that you have to isolate yourself from differing opinions. It is like a child hiding under the blankets from the monsters in their closet.

Of course I do open any political conversation that someone wants to have with me with the warning I am going to say what I think and it will likely be offensive so carry on with that foreknowledge.

Never had anyone take me up on that and stop but also never actually left a conversation with them truly offended either.

Losing “friends” because of my ability to think independently isn't really losing a friend at all. I have lost friendly acquaintances due to my conservative values, but that's actually a good thing because I don't really need narrow-minded people in my life to begin with. Fortunately, my family all share my values, except for a single niece who lost her mind and went “woke.”

My elderly mother had some brainwashed Democrat come up to her in the social hall of her synagogue, while she was in the middle of eating Kiddish lunch, and SCREAM at her as to how she could be so racist to vote for Trump.

I had some man come up to me at my father’s funeral, when we were at the lunch afterwards, and start accusing me of voting for a racist.
