That is a major problem. You can correlate the rise of the porno and tattoo industries to the rise of food stamp recipients.

The GOP contends that the average food stamp recipient actually spends only 28 cents a month on actual food. All the rest goes for porno and hookers.

If that's true, its grounds to get every single GObP out of office.

Or, are you saying there is PROOF of this outrageous statement?

Do you know that there are something like 20,000 cards that are "lost" each month?

I saw another post that in Massachussets you can use your EBT card to withdraw cash from ATM's, anyone know if this is fact or fiction?

You can use your ebt card to withdraw cash from atm machines if your tanf is put onto your ebt card...and in this state at least, it is.

TANF is cash...snap is foodstamp allotments. You can't withdraw cash from an ATM if your ebt card has ONLY foodstamps on it.

But you CAN use foodstamps to trade for other services/items if you find someone who is willing to trade in foodstamps. They charge an inflated amount for the item...whatever it is...porn, lap dances, drugs....then they use the food stamps for more food than the actual value of whatever it is they're selling.

It's called "black market" people. People who deny it happens are fucking retarded.

I don't think it's nuts, especially since there are usually very tight restrictions on who qualifies for cash assistance. Usually, you'll only get it if you have children and if your basic expenses are greater than your income after all other assistance, or if you're homeless. I don't have a problem with cash assistance. Feeding someone in and of itself doesn't solve alot of problems if they can't buy a decent outfit and hygiene supplies to make themselves presentable for a job interview.

Sorry, tanf isn't enough to provide all those things. TANF is meant to keep children off the STREET for a short period of time until their family can start providing for them.

Tanf checks are usually just barely enough to pay the rent...not the rent and electric and water, car insurance, cable, and gas for the car. There is no money in tanf to provide a wardrobe.

However people who are receiving tanf are required to participate in JObs (or at least they were) and JOBS has another set of funding, through which gas vouchers and clothing vouchers can be provided; as well as $$ to move those clients who have been able to get a job somewhere else.

Obama's just defunding welfare, and calling it gravy when he says he's reducing the JOBS requirements. He's DEFUNDING welfare and putting that money in crap medical for single, male drug addicts.

Yay progressives. You've found yet another way to kill babies.

Here's the truth...I processed an application where the client said "I pay for my rent in foodstamps".

$200/month, single person household, no children. Doesn't work.
