Food Stamps OK For Porn, Tatoos, Jewelry

You get a card from the state that has your state's name and EBT on it. It can only be used at ATMs that will take it, and that is if you have cash benefits, and certain stores that are set up to take it.
You can take EBT cards if you run a tattoo shop, it is pretty simple.

"You can take EBT cards if you run a tattoo shop,"

How exactly? You do understand that you can't have a simple debit machine, right?
Show me a tattoo shop with an EBT machine or an EBT capable Debit/Credit card machine.

You do realize there is more into a business just saying hey we want to take EBT cards, right?
The first two years I worked at Kmart when I was younger they didn't even take EBTs because they were not capable and did not have the right program.

Food stamps for those who need food, and cannot provide for themselves...an old and honorable heritage in America: "On January 6, 1657 twenty-eight “Scottish men” signed the Laws Rules and Order of the Poor Boxes Society” in Boston, New England and formed the Scots’ Charitable Society."

1."Mass Gov. Deval Patrick Vetoes Ban On Using Welfare EBT Cards To Purchase Porn, Tattoos, Manicures Because It Would “Humiliate Poor People”…No surprise he’s a close friend of Barack Obama (Axelrod ran his first campaign for Mass governor).

2. Patrick vetoed the reforms Sunday while signing the state’s $32.5 billion budget.

3. According to the Boston Herald, which first reported the veto, the governor berated the legislature’s stab at banning the purchase of specific items like manicures, tattoos, guns, porn, body piercings, jewelry, and bail by saying the move was “political grandstanding” at a time when such reforms are already on track elsewhere.

4. “I’m not going to do anything that makes vulnerable people beg for their benefits. This notion of humiliating poor people has got to be separated from how we make a program, and frankly separated and disposed of, from how we make a program work and work well,” Patrick said,...

5. Patrick allowed bans on the use of EBT cards in establishments known for the sale of seemingly controversial items — such as tattoo parlors, gun shops, casinos, cruise ships, and adult entertainment facilities —- to stand."
Exposing Liberal Lies: Deval Patrick OKs Porn, Tatoos, Jewelry with Food Stamps

We live in a time when the welfare industry needs to convinced well-meaning folks that there is a 'need.'
Rather it is a 'want.'

Consider the above when you vote.

So, they will allow our money to be wasted on crap that isn't needed for the welfare of children so we don't humiliate the parents? I have trouble feeling sympathy for the loser who gets denied when he presents his/her EBT card as payment for the tattoo or porn video.

I think we need to be specific regarding the use of welfare monies and we need to ensure that only those truly in need spend them on basic necessities. If parents are blowing money at casinos, tatto parlors, nail salons and video stores, shouldn't we be concerned that the children are not being properly cared for? I am assuming, of course, that we give people what they need for rent, utilities, food and clothing. If they buy needed items for the children, then how is it possible for them to have enough for the expensive tattoos and such? Or have we increased the cash allowance to ensure that they have a big pile of spending money for those frivilous and expensive luxuries?

Strange how the same people who will say it's OK to use an EBT card for Tattoos, porn, etc. will probably be the same people screaming how these Welfare programs are for the benefit of Children. People are NUTS.

Which just goes to show that you're a complete idiot. Anyone with the analytical and reading comprehension skills of a 5th grader would recognize that what you quoted was a typo and should have read "can't."

I obviously meant to write can't. You think you won some battle because I made a typo? You were the one who first posted this no sense op.

I've 'won' some battle in the intellectual sense, because the OP is and it's import are true.

And that is the crux of the problem.

Need.

The start is the definition of 'poor.'

It's no home, no heat, no food....not the ersatz version of the word as re-defined every year by a philosophy which desires to take responsibility for each and every aspect of our lives.

No truer analysis has been done than that of Tocqueville:

Alexis de Tocqueville, writing “Democracy in America” in the 1830’s, described “an immense, tutelary power, which takes sole charge of assuring their enjoyment and of watching over their fate.” As he predicted, this power is “absolute, attentive to detail, regular, provident, and gentle,” and it “works willingly for their happiness, but it wishes to be the only agent and the sole arbiter of that happiness. It provides for their security, foresees and supplies their needs, guides them in their principal affairs, directs their industry, regulates their testaments, divides their inheritances.” It is entirely proper to ask, as he asked, whether it can “relieve them entirely of the trouble of thinking and of the effort associated with living.”

Luissa, it seems, actually mean't 'can't'....

Still, she is incorrect.

The welfare is easily fungible, and can be used for any purpose the recipient chooses.
While the recipient is doing something that is wrong....the public officials who know this and look away are a very real problem.....possibly worse.

Brilliant.

Based on how much you bring to the conversation, I've decided to award you the 'Tareq and Michaele Salahi Uninvited Appearance ' Award!

Now, extend your buccal cavity in some other direction, you little worm.

Inthemiddle is one of the crew who portray themselves as "moderates" when they are really left wing loons.

Little worm is about the size of it.

Universal among them is their belief that they have the ability to understand what people really MEAN even when they say/write something completely different.

Food stamps for porn? wow.

That is a major problem. You can correlate the rise of the porno and tattoo industries to the rise of food stamp recipients.

The GOP contends that the average food stamp recipient actually spends only 28 cents a month on actual food. All the rest goes for porno and hookers.

Please don't let me catch you saying "it's all about the children" the next time the topic of Welfare comes up... That would be slightly disingenuous.

What's wrong? Can't handle having your deliberate stupidity called out? In case you didn't realize, no invitation is necessary around here.

Little worm is about the size of it.

If you're trying to imply that I have a small penis, you might want to pick your next target of ridicule a little better, instead of something that I freely admit with pride. But please, at least be honest. Little worm is completely inaccurate. Extremely tiny worm is what you should have said.

No one is "lying"...

....there are those of us revealing the truth....

...and you're merely stupid.

No one here is even agreeing with you that the MA EBT card allows the purchase of non-food items with food stamp benefits.

You're not only lying, you're alone in your lie in a room full of conservatives. That's how bad a lie it is.

Since I am neither Liberal, nor lack civility and upbringing, I eschew the charge of 'liar.'

As you suddenly wish to use specific phrase

"with food stamp benefits"
rather than acknowledge that folks make 'deal' and 'exchanges' with the card so as to purchase all sorts of other items....as identified in the thread....

....you have inadvertently revealed your dishonesty, and the truth of the OP.

You are truly stupid....and your own worst enemy.

It's inappropriate to refer to FOOD STAMPS here?

When your thread title starts out

FOOD STAMPS OK FOR PORN...

Really? You are now conceding you were wrong by trying to deflect from the claims of your own thread.

(how great is that?)

This deserves its own post.

PoliticalChic starts a thread about FOOD STAMPS and is now saying I'm being dishonest for trying to make the thread about FOOD STAMPS.

(we need to invent a forum award for that one)

That is interesting

What do you think we should do about it?

1. I have often felt that food stamps should be reserved for purchases labeled as nutritious, but 'no-frills.'
No reason for those accepting 'Food Stamps' to eat better than those paying for the benefit.

2.Further, there should be government-sponsored church and other food kitchens available to any with a food stamp card.....no 'doggie bags.'

They are called 'Food Stamps" for a reason.

Wadda you think?

I actually agree within reason

I don't want to start a Twinkee Police or play the "poor people should eat gruel" game

I support sane restrictions on what food stamps can buy. Basically, grocery store only

Private charity is private charity. They can do what they want. I don't want government sponsorship. It opens up too many opportunities for less than honest charities

These restrictions already exist, at least in Wisconsin. Look up your state and I think you will find the same.

Anyone here have the brains to figure out that if a person is eligible for cash benefits and they are put on an EBT card that can be taken to an ATM to withdraw the cash,

that it doesn't matter what business does or doesn't take the EBT card?
