Biden Is Spending Nearly 40% More On Food Stamps Than Trump, And He Wants To Expand It Further "To End US Hunger."

I'm dreading this. If people need help, that's one thing. But, Americans work to put food on the table and a roof over their heads for themselves and for their children. As usual, Democratic policies make it easier and easier for Americans to not have to work, just at a time when companies everywhere are begging for help. It makes no sense to encourage people to not work because someone will take care of you.

It does if your goal is to create as many government dependents as you can. The more government dependents, the more likely Democrat voters.

They are TWO SEPARATE things.

You were talking about "The Biden administration approved on Monday the biggest boost to food assistance benefits in the history of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance." That is a direct result of 2018 AIA legislation Trump signed into law.

And this is SEPARATE from temporary boost to SNAP due to Covid Trump administration implemented in second half of 2020 and continued by Biden admin untill now. Emergency Declaration should be expiring within a few weeks from now.

I've listed both in my original post in this thread.

Please tell me again about how I'm the one with comprehension problem. :rolleyes-41:

It's not two separate things. Show me where in this law of yours Trump signed increasing food stamps into 2022. This is your typical leftist blame shifting. We went through the same thing under DumBama and as I predicted when Dementia won, you leftists are going to pull that bullshit again. Here is your clueless leader stating the covid crisis in America is over.

So your reponse to me explaining and linking carefully to two separate SNAP adjustments...is to baselessly assert that it doesn't exist.

You see the orange stuff? thats separate factors from the green stuff. Mmmk?

Here is the 2018 AIA law's text, read the following:

SEC. 4002. RE-EVALUATION OF THRIFTY FOOD PLAN.

Section 3(u) of the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 (7 U.S.C.
2012(u)) is amended by inserting after the 1st sentence the following:
``By 2022 and at 5-year intervals thereafter, the Secretary shall re-
evaluate and publish the market baskets of the thrifty food plan based
on current food prices, food composition data, consumption patterns, and
dietary guidance
.''.

Are you blind or just have major comprehension problems? I repeat (from your link) while federal and state emergency or disaster declarations are in effect.

He's a democrat so everything is everyone else's fault. I'm reminded of "Reagan is reason for immigration & stuff" which translates to mean the Democrats don't have the capacity to make changes, even after 40 years.

Those number virtually ensure that SNAP recipients will become or remain overweight and sickly.

Even after they had the White House and Congress for 4 of those years.

Getting more and more Americans on these programs always helps the Democrats. it's why they push for them.

Biden's plan to end U.S. HUNGER by 2030 - and tackle obesity: Monthly benefits for Americans to buy food and promoting exercise and healthy eating included in ambitious White House project to requires MORE money from Congress

  • The Biden administration is laying out its plan to meet an ambitious goal of ending hunger in the U.S. by 2030
  • The plan includes expanding monthly benefits that help low-income Americans buy food
  • The administration also seeks to increase healthy eating and physical activity so that fewer people are afflicted with diabetes, obesity and hypertension
  • It said it would work to expand Medicaid and Medicare access to obesity counseling and nutrition
  • Biden is hosting a conference on Wednesday on hunger, nutrition and health, the first by the White House since 1969
...Under to the White House plan, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program eligibility would be expanded, children would get better access to free meals, and summer benefits would be extended to more schoolkids....

The Biden administration increased funding for food stamps nearly a year ago, but at the same time has purchased about half as much food as the Trump administration did in 2020, for food banks, schools and indigenous reservations, according to data obtained from a U.S. Agriculture Department(USDA) source.

Escalating food prices are eroding the reach of food stamps, which average around $231 per person per month in 2022, according to USDA data, sending more people to food banks, that are in turn receiving less food from the government.

Food stamp benefits for fiscal year 2022 are on track to reach $114.9 billion, down slightly from 2021 but 36.87% more than in 2020.

Comments:
Biden must not have heard the old adage, "give a man a fish..."

Is anyone dying of starvation or malnutrition in the US? I help out an extremely poor disabled gentleman. He can go get a free meal every day.

Most importantly, just giving people crumbs creates a reliance on government support. There is no motivation to change one's situation.

The goal should be the opposite - to get everyone off of food stamps except the truly disabled. The root causes need to be addressed. Inflation is one of the main reasons people are struggling to afford food. Putting more people on food stamps is not something to celebrate.

Will the "more free stuff" ever end? Everything is a disaster, and Biden's fix is always to promise more free stuff in the face of economic collapse. He's going to hurt us all.

It almost seems as if the Biden Admin has set in motion a plan to quickly make lots more people reliant upon the government, and get more Democrat voters as a result.

How else is going to support the thousands of illegals he's importing every day?

In 2020 every one I know with Snap who are elderly got double food stamps.

When the only confirmation you can find for your lies are Questionable Sources, it's doesn't say much for your arguments, Ray.

  • Overall, we rate Daily Mail Right Biased and Questionable due to numerous failed fact checks and poor information sourcing.

THE NARRATIVE.......
Food stamps provide much needed help to poor families who can't earn enough money to properly feed their innocent children.
THE REALITY......
Food stamps help the low income parent to be able to afford cigarettes and alcohol which they will buy whether they can feed their children or not.
Young adults living below the poverty level are over twice as likely to smoke than young adults earning more money.
Buying even the cheapest cigarettes, they will spend between $300 - $500 per month on cigarettes alone. While their children eat poorly and do without.

Or you can spend 2 years saying "you need to be responsible for yourself and your family. Get a job, pay your bills, don't get in trouble.".

Spend 2 years making a lot of people cry and whine and eventually you'll start to see a change and our society get more self reliant, tougher and more independent.

It's like raising kids. Sometimes you have to be tough on them, be stern, not let them have their way in order to make them stronger and to grow. If you do it right you'll end up with strong kids that can take care of themselves. Society is the same way.

We need to weed out the weak pussy ass bitches and foster the strong and independent people that are responsible. Encouraging the weak just leads to more of the weak and the more you give them the more they want.

Classic demogoguery.

When the only confirmation you can find for your lies are Questionable Sources, it's doesn't say much for your arguments, Ray.

Right. So when you can't refute the information, attack the source.

You don't live here--I do. I've never seen a skinny person use food stamps, and every time Democrats have control they try to make government bigger and people more dependent.
Now Dementia wants to make government bigger by hiring 87,000 new IRS workers that we don't want or need. So why more IRS workers? Most government workers vote Democrat. In short, this country of 31 trillion dollars in debt is going to spend 80 billion to create more Democrat voters.

Your economic ignorance has been proven on this board again and again. You truly have no understanding of economic or legal realities in the USA, and you keep offering your opinions based on bullshit and lies, while continually denying reality.

Your basic problem is you hate your tax dollars going to pay for programs for poor people. All while doing everything possible to perpetuate that poverty.

THE NARRATIVE.......

THE REALITY......

Buying even the cheapest cigarettes, they will spend between $300 - $500 per month on cigarettes alone. While their children eat poorly and do without.

The narrative - poor people are stupid, selfish and spend money on drugs, booze and cigarettes rather than food for their families.

The reality - the narrative is completely false, racist and is meant to justify the paternalistic attitudes of the white majority Republican Party towards poor people and minorities. Anything that puts cash in the hands of working people is a disincentive to work according to Republicans, even though 80% of the working age people receiving food stamps are working at least one 40 hour per week job, and the rest are elderly or disabled.

The Republican Party is adamantly opposed to higher wages, child tax credits, and government funded health care, because it makes workers less dependent on their employers, and gives them power and flexibility in their lives. Republicans want corporations and the wealthy to have cheap labour they can control.

They are still handing out extra benefits, using the pandemic as an excuse, even though Biden told us the pandemic is over.

The pandemic may be over but the financial crisis created by Trump's handling of the pandemic, continues.

I cannot believe how willfully stupid you pretend to be in order to justify your ridiculous economic belief that Republicans, who crash your economy at every opportunity, are better for working people, considering that millions of people fall into poverty every time a Republican is in the White House.
