Another 250-plus United Methodist congregations have broken with the denomination in north Georgia amid a schism over theology and the role of LGBTQ+ people in the church.

The North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist church voted on Saturday to allow 261 congregations to break away, or disaffiliate, after theological tensions over bans on same-sex marriages and the ordination of clergy who are openly LGBTQ+.

Here is some good news. When people cant agree then it is best that they agree to disagree and split. The exodus of methodists from the hardline church is heartening and shows the faultlines between christians and bigots.

Christians have been silent for too long. Organised religion is dead unless it loses the hate mongers in its ranks. Maybe that is a good thing.

People of faith and thought won’t accept fantasies forced upon them

More nonsense.

I was raised Methodist and it has been sad to see the church not stand up for God and instead embrace Satanic nonsense like gay marriage. It is the main reason I left the church. It’s also the reason so many Methodist churches are dying. They have no young people going, just a bunch of old people.

Unless a church is Bible believing, they're not a Christian church

Homosexuality in the Bible is an abomination
There are lots of things in the bible that christians ignore. On different threads you are cheering for the murder of palestinian babies.
Where does the bible support that ?

All churches are dying. Numbers have been falling for years in all denominations.
