Evil cannot be blamed on mainstream religions, only the extremists that corrupt those religions. Of course, there are those like the Taliban and Iranian mullahs that have hijacked the entire religion of Islam and oppressed their own people with it.

This can only be said of Christianity to the extent that some denominations have narrow interpretations of certain behaviors that might seem oppressive to outsiders.
