Oooooo.....1984 Goldwing standard....The last Wing made without all the fiberglass before the Valkyrie series.

But.......

I'm in WI and it's in CA.

$4,500 and I'm going to need to ship it here...Going there to pick it up is out of the question.

Deal or no deal?

I had a 1979--had a Vetter full fairing and Samsonite removable saddle bags and trunk. It was a nice ride but that bike only had 1000 cc. This one is an early 1200 and I would bet it is a beaut. I just checked KBB and they say typical mileage and good condition it is worth $3K. I think they run higher than that. I have a 50th Anniversary 1500 and I wouldn't let it go for less than $10K.

Without riding it? Eh..
That's a nice looking bike, but what does it sound like, and do the gears, suspension, and brakes work?
Look at that radiator, I bet it runs cool.
That's very different than bikes I know about.
Now I could rebuild a CBX....
Goldwing is apparently a completely different drivetrain and engine than that.
Bet there's some shared parts, though. :eusa_dance:

Goldwing was originally a 4 cylinder 1000 cc. They had an 1100 around 81 and the 1200 came and lasted for about 8-10 years IIRC. The engine was kind of patterned after a BMW, horizontally opposed cylinders. They introduced the six cylinder, 1500 sometime during the late 80s and the current 6 cylinder 1800 about 2001. They all have drive shafts and Honda put a reverse gear on the 1500s and newer. LOL, I was surprised to find out that they have added a driver air bag on the 1800s. I've had 3 of the five iterations and they are really dependable, quiet, and smooth riding. They don't call them road sofas for nothing.

Yeah, it's the Honda improvement on a BMW engine.
I realized that when I saw it, but I'm from totally different concepts of things like that.
Chain drive 4V/cyl stuff. CBX wasn't that big, but it sure had some balls.
I'd have to study to mess with a Goldwing. Could take everything on a CBX apart and put it back together.
Would guess Goldwing doesn't have a 7-plate wet clutch.

I couldn't tell you about the clutch. I know that I've put about 140K miles on my three wings and I've never had to do anything to them but change the oil, tires, brakes, batteries and I put a high output stator on my 1500. Added some nice accessories and some custom paint and pinstriping but I've never had any mechanical problems whatsoever on any of them beyond what I listed.

Update: Owner says that everything on the bike has been gone over by a mechanic and functions properly....It's a barn find with only 10,000 miles on it...He's 75 and it's to heavy for him to ride.

Shipping will be about $1,400...About what I'd be spending if I went to Cali to pick it up and ride home.

Think Ima shoot him an offer tomorrow.

That's one I'd like to add to the collection....The white one with the blue trim...They're not cheap.
