Here we have a major Christian denomination that believes that an essential matter of morals can be decided by popular vote. It is as absurd as Leftists claiming that science can be decided by popular vote.

One of the primary roles of a "Church" is to provide moral and theological guidance to its followers - hence the word, "followers." That guidance must be based on the fundamental texts. If you are a Christian, you believe (you MUST believe) that significant moral questions have right and wrong answers, and that those answers spring from the Bible. There is no question that the Bible condemns homosexual sodomy, but this Church (The Global Methodist Church) asserts and teaches that such behavior is morally neutral, and, in effect, morally equivalent to reproductive sexual intercourse.

Say what you will about the Catholic Church, it believes that the Holy Spirit guides the Church (as Christ promised She would), it seeks to discern the "right" answers to questions about faith and morality, and teaches them consistently - even when they are not popular. Protestantism appears to teach that we can all read the Bible and individually discern its meaning.

That makes no sense.

The Catholic Church stands as an obsacle between man and God.

It is riven with corruption and has anti christian values institutionalised.

Protestantism was a necessary reaction to that corruption. Once the population learned to read the game was up for the pope.

Fact is, people cannon read and discern all the written word "with the help of the Holy Spirit." The Church noted that people needed to learn scripture from priests who had studied it more in depth (the languages, the history, the cultures of Biblical times).

The Jews throughout the ages have said the same, and they add, that the studying has to continue over and over throughout one's life.

The threads that continually crop up about Noah's Ark are bear witness to what happens when people simply read the Bible.

Obsacle?

The Christian Church has been wrong on many moral issues…

Slavery, womens role in society, the Nazi Holocaust

They are now wrong on Homosexuality

How do you figure? The Gay Community has always opposed Almighty God, if you'll remember what happened in the City of Sodom. If you'll remember that they tried to get His holy angels who were sent to Sodom to investigate to come out as homosexual.

To day, the LGBTQ community has never apologized to Almighty God for that incident and taken responsibility.

The cities of the Plain were destroyed long before Abraham. It's a morality tale about affluent people who were inhospitable to strangers and travelers.

The LGBTQ people are indeed affluent, and there is nothing more inhospitable that F'ing someone in the A.

Remember the name of the city- Sodom. The people of the city named the place after a gay sex act- sodomy.

That shows what they really were up to.

There is evidence of a natural disaster before Abraham, but no evidence for any cities.

In regards to Homosexuality, the Christian Church missed the bus

Just like they did with Slavery

I don't see how you can equivalate Normalcy with Slavery?

Most people were always against being enslaved, but they appreciate the idea of being normal.

Even when they were Homosexual kings in history, they never forced it upon their people because they knew the peeps would never accept it.

The chuch is just building its own empire. Priests are not needed and Luther pinpointed the problems. Nothing has really changed since then apart from the catholic church continuing to cause chaos in the world.

Even today the Orthodox church is supporting russias war in Ukraine. I prefer a croft full of miserable calvinists sitting round a table discussing stuff. Priests not needed.

The UMC doesn't represent Protestantism.

Priests not needed.
Do you believe the same about teachers? They are not needed? What about managers? Needed or unneeded?

In fact, no one, in any profession, is needed for certain things. There is a need for them for certain other tasks. The vital thing is to identify where the need is, and where overreach may be occurring.
