Republican SNAP Proposals Could Take Food Away From Millions of Low-Income Individuals and Families

“Prominent Republican lawmakers and conservative think tanks have proposed cuts and other harmful policy changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) that could gain traction in Congress this year. These changes would cut food assistance across the U.S., making it harder for millions of people to buy the groceries they need to eat a healthy diet.”

Why are able-bodied people without dependents on subsidies? I’m not even sure why having dependents is an issue. Most people with kids work everyday. Yet it’s a big “mystery” why there are different outcomes for some people in this country.

dimocrap scum lie. It's what they do.

EVERY.SINGLE.ONE.OF.THEM. Liars.

It isn't that I despise them because they have different political beliefs. I can deal with that. It isn't that they're borderline communists. I can deal with that as well. And it isn't even that they Hate America and Americans. Not even that is an insurmountable obstacle.

I despise dimocrap scum because they are pathological liars. They will lie when the Truth would work just as well. They think they are entitled to lie. They get mad when they are caught in a lie. They are so entitled, they believe they have the exclusive right to lie.

IOW, dimocraps are lying scum. Just like this story

The cruelty is the point.

Trump cultists, being awful human beings, literally get off on cruelty.
Bullshit, now EBT cards can be used to buy stuff other than food, like lottery tickets:

And here in Memphis, they ring it up as food, but you can buy anything. Its why you should have a govt store and people can go and pickup the items there instead of giving them basically cash.

Blue state corporate subsidies are the worst!
An endemic consequence of Todd's poorly regulated capitalism. Neo-liberalism is crap, constantly needing the government to bail it out. Eventually, technology demands all forms of capitalism to rely 100% on socialism (government subsidies). It's only socialism that can save capitalism, at any level. Without it, Todd loses everything, in the long term. Long-tern is no-term for most capitalists:

Uuuuuuuuu Tod, your beloved billionaire gods need the "gobbement" to provide their customer base with a UBI (a monthly bailout for capitalists to the tune of 3 trillion yearly+), or the market-capitalist for-profit system will crumble. They need some "gobbement" regulations, and UBI (trillions yearly)...to keep capitalism on life support for a few more decades...

CAPITALISM ON LIFE SUPPORT IN THE ICU
"UBI" = Monthly Government Bailout for Capitalism

How about discouraging young women in this nation not to have children. No abortions no snap. A declining birthrate may be the ticket.
Or discourage young women WITHOUT husbands not to have children?

Even with husband's. Matters not. Then no snap, no abortions, higher paying jobs filled by people that would otherwise not have the opportunity. Lower wage jobs phased out.

Money doesn’t fall from trees. Shall we demand small businesses pay their low-level staff $20 an hour, thus forcing higher prices on their goods, and driving inflation….or, failing that, driving the businesses into bankruptcy and then there are no jobs at all.

Blue states are loaded with money so they can probably budget for it, it's the Trump loving red states that will suffer. Republican governors, congressman and senators, 99.5% of which back Trump are going to be in for a world of hurt once he cuts SNAP, federal funding for public schools and drives up inflation when he tariffs Canada, Mexico and other countries. Can't wait.
who suffers and who doesnt is the least of my concerns,,,,

as long as the feds dont keep sticking their nose in where it doesnt belong is all I care about,,

because when they have power we all suffer,,

As the workforce shrinks there won't be people to do those jobs. Win win

Oh please, "Concerned American," spare me your bullshit, tough-guy routine. Your whole argument is built on nothing but smug condescension and a fantasy version of how society actually works. You act like public assistance is some sort of privilege handed out to the undeserving, instead of what it actually is, a basic necessity that millions rely on because the so-called "free market" fails to provide for them. The reality is, people don’t wake up one morning and choose to be poor, to struggle for food, to beg for healthcare. The system pushes them into these positions, then people like you turn around and blame them for it.

Moreover, who exactly decides what "intelligent use" of public assistance is? You? Some bureaucratic panel of out-of-touch elites? The same assholes who defend massive corporate welfare:

...but ******* lose their minds if a single mother gets food stamps? Really? What makes you think you get to be the judge of what someone else needs to survive? Maybe you’d like the government to monitor every grocery purchase, every dollar spent on rent, and every doctor’s visit too? Maybe we should install cameras in people’s homes to make sure they’re being “responsible” with their food and electricity? Is that the kind of dystopian nightmare you’re aiming for?

The reality is, that public assistance exists because people need it. Without it, millions of Americans would be left to starve, suffer, and even die from treatable illnesses. Your beloved rich capitalist masters, living in their ivory towers, have no problem with government handouts when they’re handed to "defense" contractors (war profiteers, who make money off of us having plenty of enemies, filling the world with "boogiemen" for us to fear), billionaires, and banks that gamble away the economy every few years demanding a government bailout, but the moment someone struggling to make ends meet gets a lifeline, suddenly you’re outraged. Suddenly it’s about “personal responsibility” and “getting off your ass.” Really? What a joke.

Who really contributes to this country? It’s not the billionaires hoarding wealth in offshore accounts, it’s not the hedge fund managers gambling with other people’s money, and it sure as hell isn’t the politicians who pretend to represent the people while selling them out at every turn. It’s the working class. It’s the people busting their asses in factories, in hospitals, in schools, in the fields, in the kitchens, doing the actual work that keeps this country running. Do you think these people just choose poverty? Do you think they enjoy struggling while corporate executives make more in a day than they will in a lifetime?

What I’m advocating for isn’t some utopian fantasy, it’s basic human decency. Every person in this country deserves food, housing, healthcare, education, and a job. And if the private sector won’t provide those jobs, then the public sector must step up. No one should be left to rot in poverty just because the market decides their labor isn’t “valuable” enough. And spare me the fearmongering about government overreach. Government is nothing more than a tool, that serves the people, not the wealthy elite who have hijacked it for their own benefit to the detriment of everyone else. If we can use it to fund wars, prop up corporations, and bail out banks, we sure as hell can use it to make sure our own citizens don’t suffer and die in the streets.

So no, I won’t accept this right-wing nonsense that public assistance is some sort of undeserved luxury. People don’t need to prove to you or anyone else that they “deserve” to survive. The real problem isn’t the so-called "freeloaders" on public assistance, it’s the system that keeps them in that position in the first place. Do you want people off public assistance? Then fight for a system that guarantees fair wages (as in a living wage, rather than starvation wages, forcing people to work two, three jobs), worker control, and an economy that actually serves the people instead of the profit margins of a handful of billionaires. But I have a feeling that’s not the kind of accountability you’re interested in.

Run along free loader. Public assistance is supposed to be exactly what it says ASSISTANCE. It is charity. You have no right to demand it. Get off of your lazy butt and earn a living like everyone else does. Do you think your ancestors got public assistance? LMAO. I have no responsibility to provide for your "necessities" let alone every little luxury that you think you should have because the hard working person next to you has it. Cry me a river.

Even with husband's. Matters not. Then no snap, no abortions, higher paying jobs filled by people that would otherwise not have the opportunity. Lower wage jobs phased out.

Oh, look, "Concerned American" is back with the same tired, regurgitated, capitalist bullshit. You’re really out here parroting billionaire propaganda like a good little foot soldier tool, aren’t you? Let’s break down your ridiculous argument piece by piece.

First of all, “freeloader”? The real freeloaders in this society are the billionaire parasites and corporate elites who rake in record profits while paying starvation wages, dodging taxes, and getting billions in government handouts. Where’s your outrage when corporations like Amazon and Walmart pay their workers so little that they have to rely on public assistance just to survive? Where’s your tough talk when the government bails out banks and failing corporations with taxpayer money? That’s not “charity,” right? That’s just “good business”? You're full of shit.

Public assistance isn't “charity" you idiot. It’s a social contract. We, the working class, the 94% of the population that actually creates wealth with our labor, pay taxes into a system that is supposed to ensure that no one falls through the cracks. But instead, that money gets funneled into bloated military budgets, tax breaks for the rich, and corporate welfare, while people like you whine and cry about a few dollars going toward feeding families and providing healthcare. The government’s job isn’t to coddle the billionaire class, it’s to serve the public good, you moron.

Now, you bring up “our ancestors” as if that proves anything. Do you really think workers in the past just chose to suffer through brutal conditions without any protection? No, they fought, they went on strike, they organized, they demanded labor laws, safety regulations, higher wages, and yes, social programs. Every single right workers have today, from the 40-hour work week to overtime pay, was won through struggle, not handed out of the goodness of some capitalist’s heart.

But go ahead, keep romanticizing the “good old days” when people worked themselves to death with zero protections, you imbecile. And now your most pathetic, retarded claim: that you have no “responsibility” to provide for anyone else’s necessities. Hate to break it to you asshole, but that’s not how a society works. We all contribute. We all pay taxes. We all rely on infrastructure, public services, education, healthcare, and countless other benefits of a functioning society. You act like you’re some self-made rugged individual, but unless you’re living off the grid in the woods, everything you use: roads, electric grids, water systems, sewers, emergency services, hell, even the internet you’re using to spew your stupid propaganda, was built and maintained by collective effort.

And let’s be clear: no one is asking for “luxuries.” What I’m demanding, what the working class is demanding, is the right to food, housing, healthcare, education, and a job. Basic human dignity. But in your twisted worldview, people fighting for their survival are “lazy,” while billionaires hoarding wealth stolen from workers are “hardworking.” What a ******* joke. How pathetic, your defense of wealthy parasites is, especially coming from a working class person like yourself. You're not of the capitalist class and yet you're here defending their destructive interests. You're a treacherous piece of shit.

So, cry all you want about how the poor are stealing from you (they’re not), but the reality is that the working class is waking up. The future belongs to worker control, to democratic workplaces, to an economy that serves people, not just the privileged few at the top. The real freeloaders are the billionaire class, that like an idiot, you worship. They can all cry me a river. And you can float right along with them, punk.

The economy does better when employers have it harder finding people.

If you have a job, you have what you need to provide food and housing. Education is provided. I have no responsibility to support you. You can run your ignorant mouth for fifty more moronic diatribes and it won't change. The people who created these successful companies that you have chosen to vilify, built them. They didn't lay on their lazy butts and ask for handouts. Just STFU, parasite.

Depends if the job pays 6 figures plus. If not, one doesn't have enough for food, housing, and other essentials.

Swim to CUBA, communist.

You're like God, aren't you? You know what everyone is doing with their public assistance. Amazing. Your family does this and that, and you disapprove of what they do, hence what they're doing must be immoral and of course, everyone else is a carbon copy of your family.
No im not like God. I know what goes on in my wife’s family because they’re like an absolutely awful soap opera that plays out over the phones for hours on end every day.

Whst they’re doing is antithetical to every bit of reason, logic and common sense, even beyond the moral implications ; and IT ISN’T WORKING but they keep doing it anyway.

As for the other folks, I don’t care about them, except that my tax money is going to my to them illegally, unconstitutionally and immorally.

Please tell me. Did you make it to your ripe old age on public assistance or pan handling?
I worked for over 40 years. Never claimed any assistance. I have been collecting SS for a long time but I paid in. I also use medicare to which I paid in. Those two programs make america great. I also know that wr need to ensure workers have more rights, not less. Begin with doubling overtime wages. End all corporate help.
