Fact checking SNAP misinformation.

But how do you know what you "know" is the truth? Most likely your sources of info are lying to you.........like trump does.
I go pretty deep into the subjects that interest me. There's more information out there than most believe but you have to dig it out.

By now everyone should understand that "Trumpspeak" (I just made that term up) is always lies and hyperbole. So, it's really
"Ho Hum" at this point.

The guys and gals being deported, can be checked to see if they are registered voters....easy as 1 2 3.... authorities have every tool and all information, in their hands, to determine such....

We need to know the TRUTH.

But only a fraction have been caught. There are at least 20M illegals in america. If even a small percent of them were accidently registered to vote, that could change an election.

The truth is, we dont know.
The truth is.........cucks will create all sorts of desperate diversions to obfuscate the lies trump and right wing media have told about SNAP.

The same issue came up the other day when I tried to explain to some nitwit that while CA may choose to offer health insurance to unauthorized immigrants that doesn't make them eligible for ACA plans.
:eusa_naughty: Ah, ah, ah! You know that Federal funds for the ACA are merged into the separate states systems...The argument would be that CA is misusing the federal funds....

You undermine your own argument when you replace reasonable debate for pure insult and trolling.

You missed my being sarcastic after this reply by you.

The question is are illegals getting it anyway? How can we know? There are laws against speeding too, but does that mean that no one speeds?

Implying you've undermined every post you've ever written.

In the case of my comment you referenced, it's just a fact that the posters I responded to are trying to obscure the attention I placed on the lies told by trump and RWM.

I eagerly await your proof that CA's insurance plans being offered to some illegal aliens are partly funded by the federal government.

AI Overview

The claim that California's health insurance for undocumented immigrants is funded by the federal government is false.

LOL....Sure, I am responsible for it when I do that...I'm not perfect....So, does that absolve you? um NO.

Oh, I see, so only your opinion matters, is that right?

The article is too long to post all the fact checks so I just went with the first one.

Fact-Checking Misinformation About SNAP

What Was Said

“I will say about SNAP benefits, so when I was president, we had $7 billion worth and now they have many times that because these benefits were given to anybody that asked. And they’re up to, I hear, just many times, $47 billion.”
— Mr. Trump, at a breakfast with Republican senators on Wednesday

“Biden went totally crazy, gave it to anybody that would ask, gave it to people that were able-bodied, had no problem.”
— Mr. Trump, at a White House dinner on Thursday

False. None of Mr. Trump’s figures are accurate. Federal spending on SNAP began increasing under Mr. Trump and continued to increase under President Joseph R. Biden Jr., but not by “many times.” The Biden administration also did not give benefits to “anybody that asked,” as Mr. Trump said, and the number of people participating actually reached a higher point under Mr. Trump.

Eligibility is based on financial need — the income limit is broadly 130 percent of the federal poverty line — and beneficiaries are also subject to reporting rules and work requirements. During the coronavirus pandemic, emergency legislation temporarily and partly suspended a longstanding work requirement for “able-bodied” adults without dependents. That occurred in March 2020, under the Trump administration, and the suspension ended in 2023. In fact, the Biden administration agreed to add stricter work requirements to SNAP under a deal with Republican lawmakers in 2023.

Some groups of authorized immigrants, such as refugees and children, qualify for SNAP, while adult green card holders typically must wait five years to become eligible; by law, unauthorized immigrants are ineligible. Those general parameters did not change under the Biden administration. The administration did increase access for some groups — veterans, homeless people and young adults transitioning out of the foster care system — as part of that 2023 deal.

The recent discussions on the board about SNAP and ACA tax subsidy extensions have one thing in common. Namely, the false belief on the part of trump devotees that immigrants here are unlawfully receiving both SNAP benefits and ACA plan coverage. No doubt in part due to demonstrable lies like this from a prez who routinely spreads misinformation........“Biden went totally crazy, gave it to anybody that would ask, gave it to people that were able-bodied, had no problem.”

I have no reason to doubt the numbers presented in the article, it would be foolish for The New York Times to manufacture verifiable data, but I do find interesting the disparate ways the author refers to two men mentioned...

Mr. Trump vs. President Joseph R. Biden.

My lack of affection for Trump is no secret, as is my lack of same for Biden...

But I believe the author of the linked article shows his allegiance by the use, and lack thereof, of the title President. He doesn't even refer to Biden as former President.

Yes, that's what I took away from the article. As I said, I believe the numbers as presented in the piece to be accurate, so there wasn't much else left.

Some states like california have their own programs that are not part of snap that illegals can benefit from but they use their same SNAP EBT card system to distribute the funds which has created the illusion that illegals are getting SNAP.
LoL!

Who ya gonna believe? Dekster or your lying eyes?

Note that I edited out the sarcasm and turned it into a positive comment about me.

How fun it is to speak of hypotheticals when one wants to imply something nefarious is going on. It's just that there is no evidence of anything more than anecdotal examples of voters of any kind voting illegally.

You know that article doesn't prove your assertion, right?
When CA receives federal subsidies for HC, are those funds kept separate from State funds? Or, are they all put into one program pot to issue out? Be honest.
