Why are able-bodied people without dependents on subsidies? I’m not even sure why having dependents is an issue. Most people with kids work everyday. Yet it’s a big “mystery” why there are different outcomes for some people in this country.

We are also going to make food more affordable so SNAP not needed.

In the ultra-lib county where my parents used to live, the School Board decided it was bad for a child’s esteem to be known to qualify for food stamps due to low family income, so they extended the free lunches to ALL students.

They did that where I lived in California too. The kids used to buying off a food truck threw the school lunch away and bought as they normally did.

It's much easier to do that when we have a government that invests in the American people, by developing infrastructure that facilitates "supporting yourself", like providing citizens with a good education, a modern, extensive, well-run public transit system, making sure workers have rights and are protected from being fired for forming unions..etc. Union workers on average make about 20% more than non-unionized labor. Workers need access to affordable housing, food, healthcare, and fuel for their cars at reasonable prices.

We could've now in 2025, had an electric grid relying on clean, abundant nuclear energy, but our government is in bed with the fossil fuel industry and keeps us addicted to oil, gas, and coal. If we would generate our electricity with nuclear plants, we would have enough electricity to transition from gas-guzzling engines to electric ones.

If we're going to live under an economic system that exploits human labor for profit, in a totalitarian-run workplace, by a small class of wealthy, greedy capitalist dictators, then we need to make sure workers have the resources to effectively support themselves. Eventually, hopefully, thanks to advanced automation and artificial intelligence, we'll be able to replace capitalism with an economic system that is better compatible with advanced production technology and more democratic.

Generally it’s gone by the third week of the month… BECAUSE THRYRE BUYING CRAP!!! They refuse to coupon, won’t shop at BJs or other discount stores and spend the money on high priced luxury items rather than what they should be buying. My wife and I will no longer offer to help with their groceries because they refuse to shop smart.

That opens a whole new can of worms. We attend a lot of pot lucks and I am amazed at the number of people who have food allergies. Seems one woman can't eat anything normal, LOL, I have never heard of some of the things that she has in her diet. Then you have the "gluten free" crowd and lactose intolerant. Not to mention the vegan and plant based bunch. It would be a nightmare to put together pre packaged bags as it seems that in modern times, one size doesn't fit all anymore.
