So exclusions were made to allow that to happen. That's why Putin invaded...Ukraine couldn't defend itself but it was joining the EU and NATO.
This morning reports are all over the place as the Ruble is completely unstable. Putin raised key interest rate 20% to try and stabilize the worthless Ruble. There's a run on Russian banks inside Russia and a rush to dump all Russian equities and financial instruments everywhere.

Russia is currently trying to dump all its gold to shore up cash reserves as the whole world currently is dumping on Russia.

Problem with Ukraine is that it's no longer Ukraine it is now nothing more than a NATO prop.

The entire top end of the government needs to be removed and re-elected in real elections done by the Ukrainian people without CIA assassinations or Russian secret police assassinations....

Yes Russia will suffer a terrible economic impact but they will not collapse. China has already helped them circumvent the Swift system.... and just yesterday China has offered to shore up the ruble. I'm pretty sure Putin and his top planners understood that all of these things would be coming their way even if they underestimated the total intensity. This week Xi visited North Korea to establish a new working relationship with them specifically for the purpose of changing the pecking alignment of the world order.

Look, Ukraine has resources and products it was selling on the open market to enrich it's lifestyle and quality of life for it's citizens.
Ukrainian goods were of good quality. Everything from the computer programming firms to computer chips and steel products (found commonly here in America and EU)

Ukraine wanted to do more trade and in it's best interest it saw a more prosperous future allied with western civilization than with Russian isolationism. Ukraine, even though land locked, has lots of natural resources stemming from an educated and skilled population.

Russia never has had anything to fear from anyone...that's pure propaganda. It has been begged and bribed to join the western civilization after the fall of the Soviet Union...and they have benefitted greatly because they weren't isolated. The ONLY reason they are selling oil is because of Western Influence...it wasn't their idea.

Now they are dumping gold by the metric ton into the market because they found out quick that wars are more expensive than Putin could calculate.

The best resource Ukraine has is it's citizens...and Russia never has figured that out. They are educated and skilled.

I have visited their neighbor Slovakia. The infrastructure in Ukraine is about the same. However once you cross the border into the European areas the infrastructure explodes into existence. Power lines run everywhere and street lights galore.

The contrast is stark.

And with the Ukrainians wanting that sort of infrastructure. (And the willpower to make it happen) it was going to be an even more robust contrast.

It's amazing how sidewalks and streetlights can change an area. And how a dedicated citizenry can be a force for positive changes. With the last vestiges of corrupt government officials being removed from Ukraine's government...it was definitely on the road to have those nice things. Putin had to stop that.
