Nato has been quietly surrounding Russia with medium range missile batteries....what did you think was going to happen?

Putin's actions have always been far from angelic, but he's been consistent over his 22 years in power about the threat NATO expansion has posed to Russia:

Crisis Over Ukraine: A Primer

BY KENNETH SURIN

"NATO expansion:

"The US Senate ratified NATO expansion in 1992.

"NATO has expanded 1287km/800 miles eastward over the last 30 years, deep inside the borders of the former USSR.

"Allegedly, NATO was created as a defensive alliance, but by no stretch of the imagination could this expansion, which doubled NATO’s territorial scope, be called a 'defensive strategy'.

"It has been a voluntary expansion to enhance the US’s hold over Europe, and to thwart the emergence of a multipolar geopolitical world (which would also include China) after the collapse of the USSR.

"The US has never ruled out further militarization of the region under NATO, nor, more specifically, granting NATO membership to Ukraine.

"This is a major concern for Putin, who says Russia has been trying to raise the issue of NATO expansion eastwards for the last 30 years, but to no avail"

They sent anti-tank missiles....5,000 of them.

Also in the meantime it appears that the pricetag for Russia is climbing....

I would think that if NATO is such a threatening monster the Swiss would have kept the missils to protect their own country

If China suddenly annexed California and started to set up medium range land rocketry....do you think we would just sit idly by and do nothing? Nato is looking at Ukraine for a number or reasons the least of which is the false claim of protecting democracy. Ukraine is relatively rich in natural resources, particularly in mineral deposits. Although oil and natural gas reserves in the country are largely exhausted, it has other important energy sources, such as coal, hydroelectricity and nuclear-fuel raw materials. This all spells power and influence to whoever controls it and the European Bankers who drive the wars and the politics of that region are well aware of it. Once within their grasp those resources will do nothing at all for the people who live there and everything for the greedy little pocketbooks of the financial rapists who seek to absorb it under the pretext of white knight chivalry....what a joke. Additionally NATO...not content to simply abide by their original non aggress on agreement has been actively proselytizing in that region and using covert and even lethal means to sculpt the poultices of the area to their own liking in an attempt to conquer it from within. The interests of the People of Ukraine will be better served if their nation is protected from the financial vampires who are targeting them right now. Sure....Russia is not a democracy....but if the Ukrainians think for one foolish moment that NATO is offering them that. They need to think again....it is not.

JO

Poor Putin is a victim. You are either a brainless fool or a treasonous traitor. Ukraine chose to join the west on their own. All you are spouting is Putin propaganda.

And also clearly part of the no interference zone that was originally agreed to in the compacts immediately following world war II.
Something has changed and I'm pretty sure we don't have all the details.
Yeah, something changed all right. The Soviet Union became a failed state and had to take its boot off the necks of its neighbors that it occupied despite Stalin promising to have free and democratic elections in those countries to determine their fate. Not surprisingly, none of those countries want anything to do with Putin's vision or a reborn USSR or Russian Empire, so they turned to the west. And we do have the details, Russia has always been an expansionist tyranny and now its neighbors have the ability to defend themselves by joining a DEFENSIVE alliance created in reaction to the USSR's aggressive actions.

NATO's armies aren't structured for offensive operations, they don't have the bridging equipment, or the minefield clearing equipment that the Russian Army has.

Explaining basic facts to retards that think Europe has an offensive military might is a real waste of time, they live in a retardo reject kinda world and cant grasp basic facts.

NATO hasn’t expanded membership to anyone who didn’t want it.

NATO expansions is in no small part the result of the desire of former Soviet states wanting protection from Russia.
I'd go further, the former Soviet possessions don't just want protection from Russia. Events over the last decade or more prove they NEED protection from Russia.
