Nato has been quietly surrounding Russia with medium range missile batteries....what did you think was going to happen?

Ukraine is a defacto NATO prop.....
well, not sure how they "annexed" it....Ukraine applied back in 2008 to join, or at least started the process via a Membership Action Plan....but they approached NATO.

It was tabled for some time, until Putin invaded in 2014, then it became a priority of Ukraine to join

What is Russia defending itself from exactly?
They are defending ethnic Russians in the historically ethnic Russian areas of Ukraine. When the Ukraine government was overthrown back during Obama, those areas didn’t want to be in Ukraine, and held local elections to either be independent or to just join Russia. I know that “democracy” stuff can be annoying, but that is what happened.

Cuba was a dictatorship. Ukraine is a democracy. Does that matter to you?
Ukraine is a sham set up by political subterfuge, assassination and foreign greed for its mineral resources.....left to its own device they would naturally gravitate back to Russia....but it has not be left to its own device. Not that Russia is not also equally guilty of such things....that however does nothing to convince me that the US has any business there at all and especially not if your talking about our soldiers. Fuck the bankers...let them send in their own kids if they want that land so badly.

So part of Texas can vote to be part of Mexico?

Russia's interest in the Ukraine is more the recovery of lost territory (e.g., Sebastapol) than concern about a military attack from NATO. Putin knows that Biden is desperate for a negotiated settlement (like with Iran) and will give away almost anything to get one.

Czechoslovakia, anyone?

If China suddenly annexed California and started to set up medium range land rocketry....do you think we would just sit idly by and do nothing? Nato is looking at Ukraine for a number or reasons the least of which is the false claim of protecting democracy. Ukraine is relatively rich in natural resources, particularly in mineral deposits. Although oil and natural gas reserves in the country are largely exhausted, it has other important energy sources, such as coal, hydroelectricity and nuclear-fuel raw materials. This all spells power and influence to whoever controls it and the European Bankers who drive the wars and the politics of that region are well aware of it. Once within their grasp those resources will do nothing at all for the people who live there and everything for the greedy little pocketbooks of the financial rapists who seek to absorb it under the pretext of white knight chivalry....what a joke. Additionally NATO...not content to simply abide by their original non aggress on agreement has been actively proselytizing in that region and using covert and even lethal means to sculpt the poultices of the area to their own liking in an attempt to conquer it from within. The interests of the People of Ukraine will be better served if their nation is protected from the financial vampires who are targeting them right now. Sure....Russia is not a democracy....but if the Ukrainians think for one foolish moment that NATO is offering them that. They need to think again....it is not.

How does one surround a country when you only border it on one side?

Wow.... A trump supporter thinking Russia has every right to invade the Ukraine...

Didn't see that coming.

#MAGA
Wow...a Democrat doesn't understand the difference between rights and responsibilities.

Didn't see that coming.

Nobody is arguing that Russia has a right to invade Ukraine.

What's being argued is that the US doesn't have a responsibility to stop them.

This is a slippery slope. After the fall of the Soviet Union, we rubbed it in. We distanced ourselves even while including them. We had to make an enemy. The Democrats, now outed as Progs loved the Soviet Union. But they hate the now Russia. Putin is a hard liner. He is not a globalist. He even was a KGB agent and understands globalists rid them of the Czar and installed Communism and the brutality far more than what any Czar could do. That part of the world is tougher living with many cultural backgrounds within proximity.

Your game is weak comrade Trollsky.
NATO is a defensive alliance. Not an offensive force. They don’t “annex” nations. Nations choose to join the alliance.
Obviously Putin’s latest actions show clearly why it is still necessary.

Ukraine did not dissolve their constitution.
LOL, yes they did. After the coup/insurrection (paid for by the EU & Obama) they tried to vote their President out of office. They failed. So they just threw the constitution out and started a new government.

I know idiots like you like to think it’s not big deal to circumvent constitutional laws, but that is the consequence. Crimea voted to reunify with Russia and not be a part of the new Ukraine. You can’t sit here and pretend it wasn’t a violent overthrow of the Ukraine government.

Revolutions have consequences.

Crimea was the inevitable reaction of trying to deny Putin access to his only naval base in the area.....once again I don't defend totalitarianism I am merely observing that NATO seems to have become its own form of totalitarian thought. We should absolutely not commit anything at all to NATO until we are completely assured of their real intentions....to date I can see nothing to justify their lack of good faith to the original NATO agreements other than being driven by greed and regional ambitions.

Putin invade anyone else?

Yet that argument was not made in the OP
