First you scream 'peace', 'no new wars', and now that peace is being established, you're against that. You do realize it's possible to be against a war and still think the terms of the peace agreement suck, right?

In fact, it's possible to hold all of the following positions at the same time:

• The war was a mistake.
• Continuing the war would be even worse.
• The peace agreement is preferable to continuing the war.
• The peace agreement is still bad.

There is nothing contradictory about any of that.

What you're doing is pretending that if someone wants the war to end, they must therefore support whatever deal comes out of it. That's nonsense.

If a pyromaniac burns down half a house and then puts the fire out before the rest of it collapses, that doesn't suddenly make him a hero. The fact that putting out the fire is preferable to letting the whole house burn down doesn't change who started the fire in the first place.

The question isn't whether this deal is better than continuing the war. It probably is.

The question is whether the people who got us here deserve credit for accepting a deal they would never have had to accept if they hadn't created the situation in the first place.
