One of the odd areas of agreement I have with kooks is that the 'media' has limits.
That's why the educated use books..
In no particular order:
What Hath God Wrought.. this is a Pulitzer winning history of the period between the War of 1812 and the Civil War. I used to think it was a boring era of little consequence. Boy, was I wrong. This gets 5 stars, best writing I've ever seen in popular history.
11 Nations.. is a cultural history of America, it's seriously good, every high school kid should have to read this...
Amazon.com
Caste.. "Instant classic" I learned some of this in college, I had a prof who did her PHD on slavery racism. But even among the educated, it's not common knowledge. Better late than never are words I live by. 5 stars, if you want to know what you're talking about, it's a must read.
Amazon.com: Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents (Audible Audio Edition): Isabel Wilkerson, Robin Miles, Random House Audio: Books
Relentless Revolution.. I've read dozens of books on economics and economic history, this is my favorite. Spectacularly good.

I don't buy a lot of books, in addition to the cost, space is limited. I've bought all of these.
