Meanwhile I wouldn’t want to turn up at the casualty ward in some US hospitals without the right insurance cards in my wallet.
It also appears, unlike Australia, nobody has done the calculations to quantify the negative effects on the total economy of so many unable to afford medical insurance becoming unemployed , unemployable or far less efficient at work than if they were healthy. There’s something very illogical about neo-classical economics in how it chooses to entirely ignore the negative consequences of not having universal health insurance. Maybe they simply don’t want to be confronted with facts that might contradict their ideological blindness?

What happens to price when you increase demand without a corresponding increase in supply? If the price of health care provisioning increases are insurers likely to pass that cost along in the form of higher premiums?
