Should Either Political Side in the U.S. Object to this Statement by Trump, Re: Tarrifs on Companies that send Jobs out of the Country?

Tax companies who layoff Americans to move their jobs to other countries whose workers are less expensive due to their standard of living being so much lower. Tax them on goods they turn around to sell back to Americans, that is.

It seems that both political sides would support that. But, maybe I'm missing something. If you have a legitimate objection to the idea, I'd love to read it and discuss it.

What you are missing is that we no longer have the infrastructure or skills to produce many of the products we use today. Tariffs would likely have no effect other than raising prices today. This is a fairly scary situation as many of the countries these products are produced by do not have the demographics to maintain their work forces. We either invest in the infrastructure and skills and soon or many of these products will no longer be available.

Trump is not going to do that. He would tarriff his own businesses.

he gave up his pres salary so it's possible he'd do that
