This is why Americans have no faith in our political system. It is only a power grab which only benefits one political party and does nothing to improve the lives of the people they represent. I think its time for SCOTUS to end this charade.
SCOTUS is part of the problem..not part of the solution--their ruling of 'hands off' gerrymandering is a green light to partisans~

Nope. The court has upheld gerrymandering in other states, even when it was done by the legislature and not by popular ballot.
It first goes to the VA SC, which can weigh in on whether this violates Virginia's constitution. It may be squashed before it ever gets out of the state.

The VA SC is expected to make its ruling on Monday.

With the Dem win so close, it’s clear that the misleading language in the ballot flipped the victory to them.

Why would voters be okay with cheating?

Leftard cheaters! The only way they could win this election was to confuse the voters, and claim what they were doing was “restoring fairness.”
Exactly the opposite. Any confusion was caused by the GOP PAC that mailed postcards urging people to vote "No", with pictures and quotes of Obama and Spanberger. But both Obama and Spanberger were on record urging people to vote "Yes".

How the case would get to the USSC is unclear to me.

IMHO, racial, ethnic, religious, and party affiliation information should NOT be exposed when drawing district lines.
Equal protection

My comment stands. You’re a sad whiner.

As long as it's cheating for their side--they have no issues.

Ahem.....

The Right does it in red states and the Left does it in blue states, nothing new. And on it goes, stalemates and gridlock. I don't see an end to it until one party or the other abolishes the filibuster and we effectively become a one-party gov't. Eventually it could lead to bloodshed, assassinations, bombings, and whatnot.

Do we have the appetite for that? I would hope not but I see no signs of any kind of cooperation, compromise, and common sense. Maybe we need a world war or a great depression that rivals the 1930s, and a leader that unites us rather than divides us. And FYI, it ain't Trump. Nor anyone else on the current national stage either.

Repeal the 17th Amendment and see what happens.

Its all going to depend on how the VA constitution is interpreted. If the Constitution (or it’s amendments) allow for this bullish*t mid-term redistricting, then the bullsh*t mid-term redistricting will stand since it was approved by the voters. At least that is the sterile view from outside the state.

We should never have strayed from the once-every-ten-year redistricting. But the blob told Texas to do it and that started the ball rolling. It’s rather humorous that the GOP is crying foul at this point.

Outside of the regular nut-jobs who take matters into their own hands, you won’t see any violence because of this.

CNN--during a debate of GOP presidential hopefuls-- asked this dopey woman who was running for the GOP nomination one day--I don’t recall her name--if she preferred Elvis or Johnny Cash.

This is the type of questions were asking of those we choose to lead us.

I would bet that nearly 100% of the supposed “poltical junkies” here don’t recall that. It was met with a collective shrug. Those who pay no attention to politics cared even less and didn’t even shrug.

The bigger question is whether or not we will ever start paying attention again. The answer is no. Not because we don’t care exactly but because our representatives have 900,000 (almost a literal number) other constituents to represent and they are going to listen to the ones who vote with their pockebooks. We desperately need to expan congress to get that figure down to 200,000 at least. There will still be favoritism but the representatives will be much easier to unseat than they are now.
