I keep on hearing the left on this forum continue to squeal about Trump can't run for a third term. But, it sounds to me more like they are terrified that if Trump did run for a third term the left are afraid that Trump would win. If Trump is truly that awful and is so deeply unpopular with cratering poll approval numbers, I challenge the left to allow Trump to run for a third term. I mean, that would guarantee democrats a victory, right? So, let's change the rules. Let's let Trump run for a third term. That's in your best interest, right?

If they didn't make this stuff up, what would they whine about?

It's UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

End of Story!

It's another symptom of TDS
The one and only defense of your pedophile president was old 10 years ago. Do you have anything new or less idiotic? Yes, TDS is so easy to spell a MAGA can do it. As he told his Klan in Las Vegas, "I love the poorly educated". His words, not mine. He called you an idiot, and you still want to have his baby.

There exists the possibility that we might have a new Constitution before Trump's term is completed. A new Constitution might allow him to be eligible.

Doesn't work that way.

As an independent/non-partisan I look at politics from a very macro perspective. During the Obama/Biden years I witnessed and felt the amount of frustration from the right - personally, I thought most of it wasn't justified but it was there nonetheless.

During the Trump years, I've witnessed the amount of frustration from the left - personally, I can see how some of the back and forth with the media can affect people at times but in terms of specific policies, etc - I don't think a good portion of the criticism is justified either.

That said - Republicans wouldn't want a president like Obama getting elected for a 3rd term (or more) would they?

When you start doing stuff like that, you weaken the country by creating more discord than already exists - and the other side - many of them likely moderates - get pushed further right or further left.

This country is a representative Republic with term limits for presidents. It's that way for a reason and has shown to be one of the more stable forms of government in modern history.

Trump can leave office in a few years being hated by half the country but in 20 years - (barring something catastrophic) his presidency could very likely be viewed as favorable - to anyone who isn't biased. So good chance history could justify him years after he leaves.

In terms of legacy, going for a 3rd term - he would have nothing to gain and a lot to lose. He'd be much better off setting up a solid political platform for his base - something that would strengthen the party and the MAGA agenda.

Extremely well said.

It is ridiculous to assume that Trump can run for a third term

It is more ridiculous for Republicans seeking to work for Trump to refuse to acknowledge it

It's MORE ridiculous to see Democrats here on this board waving their hands and screaming, "He's going to run again!"
