Doesn't work that way.
As an independent/non-partisan I look at politics from a very macro perspective. During the Obama/Biden years I witnessed and felt the amount of frustration from the right - personally, I thought most of it wasn't justified but it was there nonetheless.
During the Trump years, I've witnessed the amount of frustration from the left - personally, I can see how some of the back and forth with the media can affect people at times but in terms of specific policies, etc - I don't think a good portion of the criticism is justified either.
That said - Republicans wouldn't want a president like Obama getting elected for a 3rd term (or more) would they?
When you start doing stuff like that, you weaken the country by creating more discord than already exists - and the other side - many of them likely moderates - get pushed further right or further left.
This country is a representative Republic with term limits for presidents. It's that way for a reason and has shown to be one of the more stable forms of government in modern history.
Trump can leave office in a few years being hated by half the country but in 20 years - (barring something catastrophic) his presidency could very likely be viewed as favorable - to anyone who isn't biased. So good chance history could justify him years after he leaves.
In terms of legacy, going for a 3rd term - he would have nothing to gain and a lot to lose. He'd be much better off setting up a solid political platform for his base - something that would strengthen the party and the MAGA agenda.
