Throwing Out Virginia’s Supreme Court to Push Through Gerrymandered Map

Dupe

<~~~~~~~~~~>
Except this was written by "The New York Times".
This is exceptional because even the Leftist NYT recognizes that the Democrats are in deep dodo and are in disarray

Since when has the NYT been "exceptional"?
I didn't say that the NYT is exceptional, I was referring to the fact that it's exceptional that they recognize the predicament the Democrats are in.

If the repubs tried something like this the press would be screaming FASCISM AND AUTHORITARIANISM!! But they look the other way when dems do it.

The Court-Packing Scheme Hakeem Jeffries Discussed Behind Closed Doors

Step one: invoke a January circuit court ruling to argue the 2020 amendment creating Virginia's bipartisan redistricting commission was itself invalid – handing map-drawing power directly to the Democrat-controlled legislature.

Step two: have Democrats in the General Assembly lower the mandatory retirement age for Virginia Supreme Court justices from 73 to 54 – the age of Justice Stephen McCullough, the youngest member of the majority. Every current justice gets forced out. Democrats fill all seven seats with hand-picked replacements.

Step three: new court, new map, four new House seats.

Social Liberalism is a mental disorder
I’m really starting to believe it is..

From AI

  • Mental Health Disparities: Data indicates that people who identify as "extremely liberal" are more likely to report mental health challenges. Conversely, some studies suggest that conservative ideology can serve as a "psychological buffer" or a calming factor against these stressors.
  • Personality and Social Factors: Researchers have found that liberals often score higher on measures of neuroticism, while conservatives often score higher on conscientiousness, both of which are linked to mental well-being, respectively.
  • External Factors: Increased media consumption and awareness of social issues (what some call "social justice fundamentalism") have been suggested as factors that might contribute negatively to the mental well-being of those who hold these views.

Angry Democratic lawmakers held a venting session this weekend to complain about Virginia’s Supreme Court overturning its new gerrymandered map — and some of the Dems floated a “dramatic idea”: replacing the state’s Supreme Court in order to push through the new map anyway.

That’s according to a report from The New York Times on Sunday afternoon. The paper reported “struggling” Dems like House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) held a private discussion on Saturday, where they fumed about the court’s ruling from a day earlier. They also strategized a potential counterstrike.

Journalist Reid J. Epstein reported the group discussed the “audacious and possibly far-fetched idea” to get the map they all desperately want. Not everyone loved the plan, though.

“The most dramatic idea they discussed — which would involve an unusual gambit to replace the entire state Supreme Court, with a goal of reinstating their gerrymandered map — drew mixed reactions on the call,” Epstein reported.

He added, “it was not clear that it would even be viable, or palatable to Gov. Abigail Spanberger and Democrats in the Virginia General Assembly.” Several Democratic lawmakers representing Virginia in the House were also on the call.

“They did not land on a specific course forward, and Mr. Jeffries and the other members of Congress agreed to consult with their lawyers about the most prudent way to proceed, said the people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe a private talk,” the report added.

The Dem discussion comes as both parties are locked in a redistricting battle heading into the 2026 midterms. Friday’s ruling from Virginia was a blow to Democrats, since the new map would have given the party an advantage in 10 out of the state’s 11 congressional districts.

Comment:
The Left's idea of "democracy" is very strange.
An independent judiciary is essential for fairness in a democracy.
When they can't win fairly, they try to change the rules
The Democrats want to govern like thugs.
The GOP would do that if they could, so it is not strange and not not American.

It is so American.

The biggest problem here is that each side is escalating, and where does it stop? It only stops where there's a dictatorship in power.
What do Dems do when the Republicans are attacking democracy without a care?

Redmap, ever heard of it?

This has been around for ages. And Redmap happened because of Democratic cheating. HOWEVER....

Congress right now has:

  • House of Representatives:
    • 303 White members
    • 61 Black members
    • 46 Hispanic members
    • 18 Asian American members
    • 3 Native American members
    • 5 multiracial members
  • U.S. Senate:
    • 83 White senators
    • 5 Black senators
    • 7 Hispanic senators
    • 3 Asian American senators
    • 1 Native American senator
So, whites are 386/535 which is 72% of Congress
Blacks are 66/535 which is 12%
Hispanics are 53/535 which is 9.9%
Asians are 21/535 which is 3.9%
Native Americans are 4/535 which is 0.74%

But in society you have:
Whites (non-Hispanic) 59.3%
Blacks 12.6%
Hispanics 18.9%
Asian 5.9%
Native American 0.7%

So, whites are up 13%
Blacks down about 0.6%
Hispanics down about 9%
Asians down 2%
Native Americans are about right.

So, basically even with discrimination in how districts are made in some places, it's still UNFAIR towards ethnic minorities because FPTP ALWAYS BENEFITS THE LARGEST GROUPS.

I like how all the news places are finally reporting on it. They are not putting the dems in a good light either.....Pretty bad when the dems are too retarded even for the MSM.

Brought to you by the people screeching about “threats to our democracy”.

It’s gotten so bad for the left that they have considered removing the entirety of the Virginia Supreme Court to allow them to install judges who will do the bidding of their party masters.

This is reflective of the results of Stalin / Lenin era tactics. That’s not surprising as the Party of Slavery holds so many of the ideologies of the communist era Soviet Union.

Democrats are crying some big tears this week, after the holding of the Virginia Supreme Court in their redistricting case.

That's effectively stopped the Democrats' effort to implement a new map that could've potentially added four more seats for them in Congress. And they're not happy about that at all, and they're allegedly considering all kinds of crazy things.

Perhaps the most extreme of the measures that, per The New York Times, were being considered during a meeting Saturday that included House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08), was to have "Democrats in Richmond lower the mandatory retirement age for state Supreme Court justices... from 75 to 54," a plan that, if seen through, would force out every justice currently sitting on the state Supreme Court. Afterwards, they conceivably would use their power to "then fill vacancies on the court with sympathetic Democratic lawyers."

The “THREAT TO DEMOCRACY” lie the commies scream is hilarious.

THEY KNOW THEY HATE DEMOCRACY.

They are communists.

So are the Repubs....the truth hurts, I know.
Redistrict all the progressive states with near total hegemony on who are elected which is all from their party. The same gerrymandering you did in the past and Republicans went into their Mayberry Act. Many Deplorables did not even realize what was happening. Your corruption affected everything including the elections at school boards with a preponderance of Progressive Socialist extreme feminists in charge. They have no idea what the real value of a dollar is. No matter what they spiel.

My corruption? How does a single citizen who is in no elected office become so powerful?
There are moar (12) Republican states with zero Democrats in office compared to (4) Democratic majorities in the states.

Commies hate when you use their bullshit against them.

Oh, so you believe Sandy Hook was a hoax and/or a false flag operation?

Good to know.
Clean up your crap first. Show us the way. No matter who did the damage at Sandy Hook, the direction was set by you and your agendas many decades ago. Our problems are structural. And even if dealt with, there will still be problems unfortunately. We train kids to riot.
