The biggest problem here is that each side is escalating, and where does it stop? It only stops where there's a dictatorship in power.
What do Dems do when the Republicans are attacking democracy without a care?
Redmap, ever heard of it?
en.wikipedia.org
This has been around for ages. And Redmap happened because of Democratic cheating. HOWEVER....
Congress right now has:
- House of Representatives:
- 303 White members
- 61 Black members
- 46 Hispanic members
- 18 Asian American members
- 3 Native American members
- 5 multiracial members
- U.S. Senate:
- 83 White senators
- 5 Black senators
- 7 Hispanic senators
- 3 Asian American senators
- 1 Native American senator
So, whites are 386/535 which is 72% of Congress
Blacks are 66/535 which is 12%
Hispanics are 53/535 which is 9.9%
Asians are 21/535 which is 3.9%
Native Americans are 4/535 which is 0.74%
en.wikipedia.org
But in society you have:
Whites (non-Hispanic) 59.3%
Blacks 12.6%
Hispanics 18.9%
Asian 5.9%
Native American 0.7%
So, whites are up 13%
Blacks down about 0.6%
Hispanics down about 9%
Asians down 2%
Native Americans are about right.
So, basically even with discrimination in how districts are made in some places, it's still UNFAIR towards ethnic minorities because FPTP ALWAYS BENEFITS THE LARGEST GROUPS.
