Vote for Kav = Buh Bye Susie Collins

Liberals might want to save that money for races in North Dakota and Alaska where Senators who voted against confirmation have just gone against overwhelming sentiment in their States. You on the left ardently believe you're going to win back the Senate in some thirty days but I have a suspicion that your sleazy behavior with the Kavanaugh confirmation may be the trigger to increase the GOP majority in the Senate. If so...you have nobody to blame but yourselves!

Here is the difference between you, and legitimate critics of Ford. They didn’t say it was made up. They agree that something horrible did happen to her that profoundly affected her life. But what they said that after all those years (and no doubt the drunken teenage memories of many of the witnesses) there was not enough evidence for a reasonable prosecutor to make a case. That is a far cry from saying she made it up and shredding her publically on it.

How far does your new found presumption of innocence go?

“Lock her up”"?
How far will Kavanaugh being guilty until proven innocent go................which is what this was truly.........

You’ll learn that this November.
She wasn’t made up. And if you had paid any attention to Susan Collin’s speech, she said there was no doubt something had happened to her.

She was being polite. For anyone who isn't a politician trying to get re-elected, it's painfully obvious that Ford was full of shit.

Pretty much. It is okay to do any crime if there is no proof to prove you did it.

If the bank in your town ends up missing several thousand dollars and claims YOU stole it, can they put you in jail with out evidence based solely on their claim?

NO.

Stop being stupid. No one believes it is "ok to rape someone." At the same time, nobody believes it is ok to just punish someone based on solely on accusations, right?

The is the premise of crime. Democrats are always telling foreigners, if you don't get caught, sure, come on over to America without going through the process, rape the system.

Well stop being stupid yourself. There was no full investigation. There was no conclusive evidence, but enough to suggest something had happened. In fact most agreed something DID happen. Not enough to, as was brought up in another case - to allow a prosecuter to make a reasonable case. And that is fair assuming a full investigation reaches the same conclusions. I have issues with the way it was handled in such a public manner, that should never have happened. Nor should it have been ignored. Ford's name should never have been disclosed, and the investigation should have been thorough and quiet until concluded. THAT was shameful and GROSSLY unfair to both Kavannaugh and Ford. BOTH have been publically shredded and humiliated. The President himself partook of the public shredding of a civilian. That is unforgiveable. Each time when I think one side or the other can't get any worse they do. And the Republicans are no better.

My apologies dear.

What I meant by stupid was, that you can't possibly believe someone should be sanctioned and have their character and career destroyed on an accusation alone? Who ever leaked this wanted to make sure that you would feel this way, that the corporate media would make you feel this way.

You don't actually think that, right?

I don't think sexual assault is an issue that should be politicized and used as a political weapon, I believe that the establishment is cheapening it. Folks will no longer take it seriously, like the boy who cried wolf. The leaker did this for precisely this purpose, b/c they knew how certain folks would react.

What ever the case may be, we are in total agreement, the situation was handled completely horribly. Utterly atrocious. I'm pretty sure, the reason it was leaked, is to make an issue of something where no evidence would ever have been found, to MAKE IT POLITICAL, to tie him to something that was in all likelihood, either a false memory, or an incident that had two sides of a story. If they hadn't leaked it, it would have never gone public and we would not now be having this conversation. If it weren't a false memory, it is likely a misunderstanding or an exaggeration. Who knows?

When I think about the fact that Ginsburg was confirmed on a vote of 96 to 3 and Scalia was confirmed on a vote of 98 to 0 I wonder what is happening to this nation.

I totally agree. But I also never thought they would pull the stunt they did with Garland. :(

The nefarious "Using a Senate majority to reject a nominee they didn't like" stunt that's . . . I dunno, their prerogative under the Constitution?
It is a breakdown of the system and you know it. If it had been under a Republican President you would be crying foul. The Dems fully excersized their constitutional rights of advise and consent under the system, nothing was illegal. So was this a good thing? Or further breakdown of a system that is not supposed to be partisan?

I know nothing of the sort. I don't give a fuck how convinced you are that "the system" consists of Democrats throwing tantrums and demanding things and Republicans caving in to them. The ACTUAL system is that the party in control of the system gets to accept or reject nominees as they choose. Nowhere is it written that Democrats have a right to a media circus whenever they decide they want one.

And don't even THINK about projecting your shit behavior onto me and trying to justify being an evil, unhinged piece of shit by telling yourself that everyone else is garbage like you.

That is a stupironic comment, that is like saying all
True Democrats have no courage, at least you are honest about that.

Yep, another dumbass Republican comment.

I never said that and anyone half way comfortable with basic logic would know that.

Poor whiner, can't take a joke? You left wing idiots are pathetic assholes.

At least our jokes are funny.

I admit that was funny. Maybe one day you will get over losing the Presidency and now the Supreme Court.
Things change, that is the good thing about our system :)

You also can’t be sure they will always vote as you want.

Yeah, you leftists certainly learned THAT lesson, didn't you?

Thank you for making our point. Presumption of innocence goes as far as "evidence that the person is guilty".

Just think! If $2M can be raised in a month and the election is two years away, we'll wipe her ugly mug off the Senate floor easily.

I hope other groups take the lead like the women in Maine have, and do the same damn thing.

Is it the abortion thing?
I wish to God you people would stick to your own state and leave her to hell alone.
Nonsense.

Collins will be voting to place on the Supreme Court a justice whose votes will affect every American in every state.

Indeed, as with all elected Federal representatives, Collins’ votes concerning Federal legislation likewise affects every American in every state.

Consequently, it’s perfectly appropriate for any American in any state to oppose Collins, and seek her removal from office.
I don’t like Kavanaugh but he is qualified. I don’t think opposing him on purely partisan lines is good for the courts. It IS the president’s prerogative to be able to fill a vacancy, despite the shameful behavior of the Republicans.

It is NOT the President's prerogative to fill a vacancy. Once again, the leftist in the room ignores and tosses out the ACTUAL rules in favor of "THIS should be the rule, because it gives me what I want". It is the President's prerogative to NOMINATE. The Senate has a prerogative, too (you would know this if you 1) learned to read, and 2) read the Constitution): their prerogative is to say, "No."

The system is partisan..........always will be ...........it's one thing to block a nomination........it's entirely another to try and destroy a man and his family with accusations with no evidence to back it up...........

This was a media circus trial.......................and showed many how dirty the Dems can be right before an election...........and there will be consequences for it come November................Free get out the vote to the GOP
No. It is not one thing to block a nomination for purely purposes. You just approve of dirty tricks when it benefits your side.

There was nothing wrong with Ford’s allegation. There was nothing wrong with checking it out. That is part of the process. What was wrong was the WAY it was handled.

Yeah, the "dirty trick" of applying to rules to our advantage. How DARE Republicans believe they're ever allowed to win?

Kinda like Clinton huh?
They had evidence to at least back it up..........never stuck but was never this lame and you know it............

Swiss cheese testimony of Ford....................is she really that scared...........or is she the best dang actor in our lifetime with how it went down.....................I believe in the years to come she will not be this scared little woman as portrayed.............but living it up with the money she got for doing so.................
Bullshit. A complete investigation revealed nothing a reasonable prosecutor would make a case on and you continued with proclamations of guilt.

Ford upended her life over this, there is no doubt it profoundly affected her life years before this.

Bullshit. A half-assed investigation run by her partisans STILL turned up evidence - as opposed to Ford, who ACTUALLY had no evidence, and about whom an ACTUAL prosecutor said, "I wouldn't touch this mess" - and the left just ignored it.

Sounds like you are a hater of women.....
Wrong but if true at least he doesn’t want them raoed like you do.
raoed? Is that a new thing you liberals do to women? People like you are the reason people like me went into the military, so we can defend and protect our people from shits like you.
Being in the military does not excuse your being a despicable piece of trash.

The women in this country are throwing your sorry ass out in 2020..

Highly unlikely. Collins has always had a relatively easy reelection and by 2020 nobody will even care about this anymore. Two years is a lifetime in politics.

It will be a Presidential year and Trump's treatment of women will be a issue as women could go Democrat even more than they did for Clinton. Collins is going to have to answer for her vote.

Trump’s treatment of women was not an issue in getting him elected in the first place and everyone was very aware of it. Collins will not be affected by this, but believe whatever helps you sleep at night

Will Dimms act the same way if a Trump supporter baselessly accuses Biden of rape?

No, of course not. They will immediately support the woman, hold rallies in her support, and demand that Biden immediately leave public office.

Oh, who am I kidding, I can't type that with a straight keyboard. We know they would pivot on a dime and trash the woman.

I totally agree. But I also never thought they would pull the stunt they did with Garland. :(

The nefarious "Using a Senate majority to reject a nominee they didn't like" stunt that's . . . I dunno, their prerogative under the Constitution?
Tit for Tat, Biden had earlier stated that a SC appointment made in the last year of the Bush administration would be held up until after the following inauguration, so the GOPers held the dems to that standard. He wouldn't have gotten enough votes anyway.
Oddly enough, by doing so Garland remains a viable SC candidate in the future by not being rejected in and up or down vote. So there is that.

LOL

Prove it beyond a shadow of doubt............start with WHEN AND WHERE..............via Maryland law if she wants to file a complaint that is on the form ................fill it out and put your dang money where your mouth is.............

She didn't now did she............and this will fade away right after the elections..............
That is exactly what I ALREADY said. You can’t prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt. It would not stand up in a court. That does mean it was made up however. And though it should be investigated as part of the process, it should not be used as a reason to disqualify him.
Anyone can make up shit and use it to make accusations.......simply because she says it happen doesn't make it true..............

She has the burden of proof either way..................not the other way around..........she didn't do it.

Did you miss the part where they said it was clear something had happened (based on the evidence) but not enough to make a case? It is possible BOTH are right. The process should never have been public.

What evidence?
We weren’t given an opportunity to view anything were we? I can only go by what some of the Republican senators like Susan Collins said.

Democrats got to see the report. Are they not telling you what to be mad about?

Collins must have just saved her sorry ass.

A moving and thoughtful speech just ended. Calling out Democrats, their Socialist and outright Communists on their perversion of the SCOTUS confirmation procedure.

Capping it off with a reasoned statement that she will vote for confirmation.

Meanwhile Lease-A Murkowski looks likely to vote no raising the possibility that President Trump may take a new look at whether growing military bases in Alaska make sense.....indeed, whether America needs ANWR.

If Alaskans are sufficiently punished they might just shitcan Lease-A next time around.

Of course she has an opportunity to save her ass.....in light of it now certain that there are the votes for confirmation "Daddy's Little Girl" (remember, her father appointed her to succeed him when it was clear he was about to be un-elected from The Senate) might just cast a luke-warm "yes" vote. But is she smart enough to do that? Would her Democrat (she is a notorious RINO) masters pull her strings hard enough that she'd cast a wasted "no"?

Only the puppetmasters know how much rope she'll be allowed.

She is right in her statements.

However, you already perverted the process with Garland.
huge difference, Garland was defeated by Constitutional law (role of Senate to advise and consent) and Senate rules. They tried ti take Kavanaugh down with vile and hateful claims, character assassination

Dems have grossly miscalculated and overreached, going to cost them big in tge midterms

on a side note, Collins' comments that Garland and Kavanaugh have voted the same way over 90% of the time is very interesting, should give reasonable left leaning folks comfort

The difference is negligable - all tactics were lawful - AND - if McConnell hadn't insisted on the short timetable, withheld important documents, released many at the last moment - it wouldn't have come to this - Kagen and Sotameyor both had much longer hearings. This could have been quietly handled and investigated if the atmosphere on both sides wasn't so toxically partisan - the same toxic partisanship that denied Obama his right as president, to put forth a Supreme Court Nomination. You all changed that (preceded by the Dems changing the fillibuster rule) - this all fallout from preceding actions.

Kavannaugh will have to prove he isn't partisan. And that he is independent of Trump. I wouldn't have disqualified him on the basis of what happened in Highschool. But I am disturbed by some of what he said in the hearings, his refusal to answer questions and a generally disrespectful attitude towards Congress (imo).

Obama did put forth a nominee. His name was Merrick Garland

The Dimms constiuency are now women who accuse men of rape without ANY evidence or witnesses.

Brilliant.

Once those few man hating Lesbians die off, what will be left?

Oh. So if you can't provide physical proof of rape it's ok to rape someone...is that what the Republicans are about today?

I don't think that's what was said and I have never seen anyone say anything like that. But, everyone is entitled to be treated fairly based on what THEY have done. No one has accused Kavanaugh of rape, and I don't see how it is fair to obstruct Kavanaugh's nomination because some people were raped in the past by someone who was not Kavanagh.

I hope the Dems take notes from McConnell; anything's fair now! The bar has been lowered so far, I'm not sure it can be raised again in my lifetime! This is going to be war from now on; esp. while Trump's still in office! :26:

No, it's if you can't provide evidence.

Fine, then why didn't they allow for a thorough unrestricted investigation? Frankly, many including Collins agree something happened. Kavanaugh lied about his alcohal consumption. You can't just assume it did not happen anymore than you can assume he's guilty.

You should blame Diane Fienstein. SHE is the one who sat on the information about Ford and didn't forward it to the FBI in time to have it thoroughly investigated in a quiet and confidential way.

That's why Garland wasn't considered.
