Thought For The Day by John Jaeger, MBA

The more is given the less the people will work for themselves, and the less they work the more their poverty will increase. – Leo Tolstoy (1828-1910)

A friend of mine was a physics professor at a state university. We scuba dived, fished and rode dirt bikes in the desert together. He was an atheist. I said, "Ron, there is a finite possibility that you are wrong. Suppose after you die, you meet your Maker, God. How will you answer for your atheism?" He repied, "You didn't give me enough evidence." Eighty-five percent of Nobel Laureates in the twentieth century had enough evidence, as did the overwhelming majority of humanity throughout history regardless of education, but this Marxist physicist did not.

"My object in life is to dethrone God and destroy capitalism." - Karl Marx

A butcher at our large grocery store was stocking meat and I patted him on the shoulder and said, "Thank you for feeding us."

It was not my first time to do that. Before walking away, I asked him, "Has anyone else ever patted you on the back and thanked you for feeding them?"

"No" he replied.

Try it. The worker you compliment will feel good and so will you. They are the last links in our food chain.

For your own health and welfare and that of your family, check your vitamin pill label and confirm that it contains iron, necessary for formation of new blood cells which you constantly replenish. Do not take any calcium carbonate. That is limestone and it forms kidney stones, which are very painful. I know. I used to take calcium carbonate and drink soda, but not any more. Get calcium gluconate or calcium citrate instead.

“Christians learned that Jews were a people 'despised, hated, persecuted by all nations – still distinguished in their Laws, Customs and Religion, remaining a standing evidence of Divine Vengeance upon Unbelief, and an indelible Monument to the Truth of Christianity.' ” – Histoire des Juifs, 1706, Jacques Basnage

Sins and selfish errors are generally forgiven by others, but are a lasting burden on the sinner forever. Today they are my greatest regret, and they cannot be undone. So be wise, act kindly, and avoid lifelong bad memories you alone created.

It took me years to grow up and be the man my wife wanted and deserved. Years. But I did it.
Happy wife, happy life. Two words are the key to a Golden Wedding Anniversary:
"Yes, dear."
"There is almost nothing a man can do wrong if he shows his children that he loves their mother." - James Dobson, PhD, Founder of Focus on the Family

"Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars." – Khalil Gibran

.. The First Amendment, said Judge Learned Hand, "presupposes that right conclusions are more likely to be gathered out of a multitude of tongues, than through any kind of authoritative selection. To many, this is, and always will be, folly; but we have staked upon it our all." This nation is founded “on the profound national commitment to the principle that debate on public issues shall be uninhibited, robust and wide open, and that it may well include vehement, caustic, and sometimes unpleasantly sharp attacks on government and public officials.” New York Times Co. v. Sullivan, 376 U.S. 254 (1964), Unanimous 9-0 decision

“We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.” - Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, Jesuit Priest and scholar (1881-1955)

“A scientific discovery is also a religious discovery. There is no conflict between science and religion. Our knowledge of God is made larger with every discovery we make about the world.”
—Joseph H. Taylor, Jr., Nobel Laureate, 1993

Every day try to help or at least compliment or thank several people, not everyone, but several.
It will make you and them feel better, really.
A big man who looked much like Shaquille O'Neill worked the dairy cooler every morning at my grocery store. One morning, I patted him on the shoulder and said, "Have I ever thanked you for feeding me?"
He replied with a smile, "Several times." I also tell the hard-working staff, "You're the last link in the food chain."

I pass these small slips out daily.

Kindness slips.webp

“Of existing things, God is the oldest for he is ungenerated. The world is the most beautiful, for it Is God’s creation…. Mind is the swiftest, for it runs through every thing….” – Plato (428 – 347 B.C.)

“If there is anything in nature, which the human mind, which human intelligence, energy and power could not create, then the creator of such things must be a being superior to man. But the heavenly bodies in their eternal orbits could not be created by man. They must therefore be created by a being greater than man. … Only an arrogant fool would imagine that there is nothing in the whole world greater than himself. Therefore there must be something greater than man And that something must be God.” – Chrysippus (279- 206 B.C.)

"If women didn't exist, all the money in the world would have no meaning.” – Aristotle Onassis

“The world of strict naturalism in which clever mathematical laws all by themselves bring the universe and life into existence, is pure (and, one might add, poor) fiction. To call it science-fiction would besmirch the name of science.” – Professor John Lennox, Oxford University (God’s Undertaker: Has Science Buried God?)
