He taught of a Kingdom to Come (after His death), -- Matt. 6:10, as the NT covenant did not come into effect until Jesus stated with His last breath, "......it is finished" (John 19:30). Titus 3:5. "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us....."
Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works lest any man (person) should boast."
Any true Christian will do good works and follow his rules not to get to Heaven, but because we know that we are going to Heaven. Continuing the last reading points this out.
