Zone1 The Olivet Discourse (Matt. 24-25)

In (Dan. 9:24) we are explicitly told the purpose of the 70 weeks of years. And, again, as also said in (9:24) it is for Israel and Jerusalem. It will affect all people on the earth, but it is for Israel and Jerusalem.

The purpose:

1.) It is "to finish the transgression". And you can add...of Israel. Just as the generation of Israel that refused to go into the promised land, each day for a year bore their iniquites, so shall Israel now bear 490 years their transgressions for her rebellion against God.

2.) It is "to make an end of sins". And you can add, of Israel's sins. This speaks to 'national Israel'...when Israel as a nation turns back to God. As Paul says in the book of (Romans)

(Rom. 11:26-27) "And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob. For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins."

As promised in the Old Testament. (Jer. 31:33-34) "But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel...And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more."

3.) It is "to make reconciliation for iniquity". And you can add, for Israel's iniquity. The word here for reconciliation is really 'atonement'. And it speaks to the 'national atonement' for the nation of Israel.

Just like in Israel under the law, the individual would bring his sacrifice for his atonement. But with Israel there was always a 'national atonement' that needed to be experienced. It is called their 'Day Of Atonement'. Read all of (Lev. 16:1-34).

(Lev. 16:34) "And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to man an atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year. And he did as the LORD commanded Moses."

Quantrill

continuing with the purpose of the Seventy Weeks vision. (Dan. 9:24)

4.) It is "to bring in everlasting righteousness". And you can add 'for Israel'. An everlasting righteousness must come from God, not man. Israel's righteousness must come from God, not man. And, not the Law. Obedience to the Law produces only man's righteousness.

(Jeremiah 33:14-16) "Behold, the days come saith the LORD, that I will perform that good thing which I have promised unto the house of Israel and to the house of Judah.

"In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David, and he shall execute judgement and righteousness in the land.

"In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this is the name wherewith she shall be called, The LORD our Righteousness."

5.) It is "to seal up the vision and prophecy". And you can add, for Israel. This is to have fulfilled and confirm all prophecy and vision concerning Israel and Jerusalem, which comes from Israel. The only written prophecy from God is found coming from Israel.

6.) It is "to anoint the most Holy". And you can add, in Israel. This speaks to the anointing of the most Holy in the Millennial Temple.

Remember the Tabernacle? (Ex. 25:21-22) "And thou shalt put the mercy seat above upon the ark...And there I will meet with thee from above the mercy seat.

(Ex. 40:33-34) "...So Moses finished the work. Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle."

And the temple of Solomon? (1 Kings 8;10-11) "And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of the LORD, So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD, had filled the house of the LORD."

And so shall it be with the yet future Millennial Temple. For the promise of that temple read all of (Ezekiel 40-43) (Ezekiel 43:4-5) "And the glory of the LORD came into the house by the way of the gate whose prospect is toward the east. So the spirit took me up, and brought me into the inner court; and, behold, the glory of the LORD filled the house."

So all these six things will be accomplished for Israel during the Seventy Weeks or 490 years. But, as can be seen, these are all for a future date. None of these things have been accomplished yet for the nation of Israel.

But, we are well past the 490 years. So how can this be? The Seventy Weeks vision will answer that.

Quantrill

The angel Gabriel will reveal to (Daniel) how the 70 Weeks will be numbered, as there is division in the number. And in this division, there will be two groups. One of 69 weeks and one of 7 weeks.

(Daniel 9:25-26) "Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and three score and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. And after threescore and two weeks, shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself....."

A 'score' in the Bible is 20. So threescore is 60. So, 7 + 60 + 2 = 69. As to why it wasn't just said, 69 weeks, I don't know. I am sure there is a reason though. And when it then says 'after the threescore and two weeks' it doesn't negate the 7 that went before. It assumes the 7 and it means after the 69th week, Messiah will be cut off.

So we have been given the starting point of the 70 Weeks. It is 'from the going forth of the commandment to restore and build Jerusalem'. Here you will have different views of this starting point among Christians. If any are interested you can study for yourselves the various views and choose one. I will just give what I believe to be the correct view.

There is only one place in Scripture where we are given commandment to restore and build Jerusalem. That is found in (Nehemiah 2:1-5) "And it came to pass in the month Nissan, in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the king....And I said unto the king, If it please the king, and if thy servant have found favour in thy sight, that thou wouldest send me unto Judah, unto the city of my fathers' speulchres, that I may build it."

(Nehemiah 2:8) "...And the king granted me, according to the good hand of my God upon me."

The twentieth year of Artaxerxes is the known date of 445 B.C. Sixty Nine weeks =483 years. Because we move from B.C. to A.D. we subtract 445 from 483 which equals 38 A.D. This puts us about 8 years after the Crucifixion of Christ. But it does put is in the time period. More to consider later.

Quantrill

The problem with 38 A.D. is that it places it too far past the 'time of Messiah the Prince'. So we must consider what the length of a year is here.

(Gen. 7:11) In the six hundreth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up...

(Gen. 11:24) "And the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days."

(Gen. 8:3) "...and after the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters were abated."

(Gen. 8:4) "And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month...."

So, from the 17th of the second month to the 17th of the seventh was 150 days. Making each month 30 days and a year 360 days instead of 365 days of the solar year. And the 20th year of Artaxerxes in (Nehemiah 2:1-5) being 445 B.C. would be based upon the solar year.

Further proof: (Dan. 7:25) "...they shall be given in to his hand until a time, and times, and the dividing of time."

This same time is spoken of in (Rev. 12:14) "...where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time..."

This same time is spoken of in (Rev. 13:5) "...power was given unto him to continue forty and two months."

This same time is spoken of in (Rev. 11:3) "...they shall prophecy a thousand and two hundred and three score days...."

This same time is spoken of in (Rev. 12:6) " they should feed her there a thousand and two hundred and threescore days."

So, a time, and times, and the dividing of time equals 42 months or 3 1/2 years. The forty two months equals 1,260 days, which means the month consists of 30 days and a year 360 days.

69 weeks X 7 equals 483 years. Based on the solar year: 483 X 365 equals 176,295 days. Based on the Biblical year: 483 X 360 equals 173,880 days.

Thus, 176,295 minus 173,880 equals 2,415 days. Six years X 360 equals 2,160 days. Which means the 2,415 days is more than the 6 years. Which means when you subtract at least 6 years, 38 minus 6, it places the ending point of the 69th week, not at 38 A.D. but about 32 A.D. Well into the time and ministry of Messiah.

Many believe, and I am one of them, that the 69th week ended exactly to the day of what is called Christ's triumphant entry into Jerusalem. And many attempt to prove it through a mathematical process. which is fine if any want to pursue it. It is enough for me to see the 69th week end during the time of Christ's ministry on earth.

And, I believe Christ alluded to the exactness of the day. In (Luke 19:37-38), as Christ was riding a donkey into Jerusalem, the disciples began to rejoice. "Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord; peace in heaven, and glory in the highest."

At which time the Pharisees wanted Jesus to rebuke them. (Luke 19:39) To which Jesus replied, (Luke 19:40) "...I tell you that if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out." Quite a statement. I believe it to be literally true. The Creation knows its Creator. And this day was a special day to be recognized by the Creation.

(Luke 19:41-42) "And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes."

The 69 weeks have been accomplished. Still one week left. 483 years accomplished. 7 years left to complete the 70 Weeks.

Quantrill

A major question concerning the last Week, the final 7 years: Do they follow immediately the 69th week?

Note that Christ in (Luke 4:16-21) beginning His public ministry went to the synagogue and read from (Isaiah 61:1-2). But, (Isaiah 61:2) says "To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn."

But Christ left out 'the day of vengeance of our God' in (Luke 4:19) saying only, "To preach the acceptable year of the Lord." Why did He leave it out? Because this was not the day of vengeance. The day of vengeance belongs to the Second Coming of Christ. (Isaiah 63:3-4) "I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment. For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come."

So, between the word 'LORD' and 'and' in (Isaiah 61:2) there is a time gap that is still growing. But, when you read it, it reads as if all occurs at the same time. The only reason we see a time gap there is because of other Scripture such as (Luke 4:16-21).

Further proof is (Gen. 1:1-2) "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep...."

If this was all we had concerning this time, it reads as though verse 2 is describing 'original creation'. But we have more Scripture than this. (Is. 45:18) "For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited...."

Also, (Jer. 4:20-27). Here God is describing an Israel under His judgement. Please read all the verses. In this description of severe judgement to come upon Israel God likens the earth as described in (Gen. 1:2). (Jer. 4:23) "I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light."

But then God in (Jer. 4:27) holds out the promise of restoration to Israel. "For thus hath the LORD said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end."

If (Gen. 1:1-27) is not a picture of original creation, (1:1), an earth under judgement, (Gen. 1:2), the 6 day restoration, (Gen. 1:3-27), then it offers no hope to Israel.

In other words, a period of time exists between (Gen. 1:1) and (Gen. 1:2) of which we don't know how long.

Along the same line as post #(46), I found an interesting article put out by 'Bible Believer Baptist Church' concerning reconciling the supposed Bible contradiction when comparing (1 Kings 6:1) with (Acts 13:8-22)

In (1 Kings 6:1) we are told that it was 480 years from the Exodus to the 4th year of Solomon's reign. But (Acts 13:18-22) says 40 years for wilderness wanderings. 450 years for time of the judges. Saul's reign of 40 years. And Davids reign of 40 Years. Which adds up to 570 years, not 480.

But, when you add up the number of years when Israel was turned over to her enemies during the Judges you come up with 114 years. See (Judges 3:8) for 8 years. (Judges 3:14) for 18 years. (Judges 4:3) for 20 years. (Judges 6:1) for 7 years. (Judges 9:22) for 3 years. (Judges 10:8) for 18 years. And (Judges 13:1) for 40 years.

Subtract the 114 from the 450 given in (Acts 13:20) And you get 336. Add to that the 40 years for the wilderness wanderings, (Acts 13:18). Add 20 years for the time the Ark was at Kirjath-jearim, (1 Sam. 7:2) Add 40 years for Saul's reign, (Acts 13:21). Add 40 years for David's reign, (2 Sam. 5:4). Add the 4 years of Solomons reign, (1 Kings 6:1). And it should add up to 480 years.

The point here is not to disprove what is considered a contradiction in Scripture. It is to show that God doesn't count time when His people are away from Him. When they are in a state of rebellion and turned over to their enemies, God's time for them stops.

Thus at the completion of the 69th Week Jesus said to Jerusalem, (Matt. 23:38-39) "Behold, your house is left unto you desolate...Ye shall not see me henceforth till ye shall say Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord."

Time stopped for Israel with God. There is still one week left to fulfill the 70 Weeks vision. And it will be fulfilled. But for now, Israel is under the heel of the Gentiles. (Luke 21:24) "And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled."

God is still working with man on the earth, but at this time it is with the Church, and not the nation Israel. But that is only 'until' the fulness of the Gentiles are brought in. (Rom. 11:25)

Quantrill

(Dan. 9:26) "And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined."

This prophecy speaks to 70 A.D. and the future anti-christ in the end times. Messiah is first cut off. Then the city of Jerusalem shall be destroyed as well as the Temple. That is 70 A.D. But it also says, the future prince that shall come will be of the same people as those who destroy the city and sanctuary in 70 A.D. That can only mean, that prince, the anti-christ, will be Roman.

What does it mean for 'the prince that shall come' to be Roman? From the city of Rome? From Italy? There is no Roman Empire today. But we know that there will come a future Roman Empire. This is found in Nebuchadnezzar's dream and (Daniel's) vision of it in (Daniel 2:1-45)

In this dream of Nebuchadnezzar and by Daniel, Babylon would be the first of 4 empires on earth which would end in the coming of the Kingdom of God upon earth. Thus you have 1.) Babylon, (Dan. 2:36-38) 2.) Medo-Persia, (Dan. 2:39) 3.) Greece, (Dan. 2:39) 4.) Rome, (Dan. 2:40-43) and 5.) The Kingdom of God. (Dan. 2:44-45)

Thus the final Week of Israel's 70 Weeks and a revived Roman Empire are for a future day in the end times, and from that revived Roman Empire, the anti-Christ will come. I don't know if he will be from Rome, but it does say he will be 'of the same people'. This seems to me to emphasize that he will be from the people of Rome or Italy. But maybe it means from any of the people of the empire. What I can say is the final empire before the return of Christ will be Roman, and the anti-christ will be of that empire.

Quantrill

We come now to (Daniel 9:27), which is that which Christ referred to in (Matt. 24:15).

(Matt. 24:15) "When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the Holy place, (whoso, readeth, let him understand)

(Dan. 9:27) "And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate."

Who is the 'he' here in (Dan. 9:27)? He is the 'prince that shall come' spoken of in (Dan. 9:26). He can't be Antiochus Epiphanes because his actions are in the past when Christ spoke in (Matt.24:15). It can't be Titus of 70 A.D. because he made no covenant with Israel. Nor did he make any declaration to stop the sacrifices an oblations by the Jews in the Temple. He simply destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple. It can't be Christ because He did not return in 70 A.D. and set up the Kingdom.

Compare (Dan. 2:44), "And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed...." to (Acts 1:6) "When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?

Christ has not returned and the Kingdom of God has not been restored to Israel. Israel will not be restored until she is ready to receive Christ as her Messiah. (Matt. 23:38-39) "Behold, your house is left unto your desolate. For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord."

Israel has returned as a people back to the land. But Israel has not returned to her God. And it will only be during that horrific final 7 Weeks, that she will. And in that day, when she sees the 'abomination of desolation in the holy place', and the anti-christ take away the sacrifices, she will know she is in the middle of the 7 year Tribulation. (Matt. 24:15) And there are 3 1/2 years to go.

This also means, the Temple must be rebuilt and the Mosaic sacrificial system will be restored. But the rebuilding of that doesn't make them right with their God. Only in receiving Christ as their Messiah, the Son of God, can they be right with their God.

Quantrill

Once again a reminder, we are speaking of Israel, not the Church. The Church is no longer on the earth having been raptured out prior to the beginning of the Tribulation. Which event, I believe, began the final 70th Week Tribulation. During this time, the Church is in the heavens with Christ going through the judgement of rewards. (1 Cor. 3:11-15)

Now in (Matt. 24:15) we are in the middle of the Tribulation. The believing Jews are spreading the Gospel of the Kingdom not just in Israel, but to all nations. (Matt. 24:14) These are the 144,000 spoken of in (Rev. 7:1-8) And many do believe and are saved. They will fulfill what Christ and His disciples were preaching before His rejection. (Matt. 10:23) "But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come."

After Christ identified the time as the middle of the Tribulation, (Matt. 24:15) (Dan. 9:27), He gives the warning to those who believe in (Matt. 24:16-20). It is certainly comparable to the warning given by (Luke) in (Luke 21:20-24) concerning 70 A.D. because both are terrible destructions upon the Jews and Israel. But (Matthew) speaks to the end time Tribulation, where (Luke) is speaking to 70 A.D.

Once the Jews in the end time Tribulation period see that abomination of desolation in the Temple, they must make haste and get out of Jerusalem and to the mountains, to hide themselves, just as the believers did in 70 A.D. Now begins what Christ calls the Great Tribulation. (Matt. 24:21) "For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no nor ever shall be." Because we are in the middle of the 7 year Tribulation, the Great Tribulation will last 3 1/2 years.

If the Bible is just writings by men, then they have no authority behind them. If the Roman church believes that...no wonder the Roman Church didn't push them. They mean nothing.

Big question is...why the hell are you still a church goer? Makes you feel good? Gives you the fuzzies inside? If the Bible means nothing then the church means nothing. Which means your going to church means nothing.

Just own up that you don't believe any of it. To you it is just a pile of shit.

Quantrill
What does the Bible have to do with going to church? Absolutely nothing. Don`t YOU tell me what I do or don`t believe.

continued from post #(50):

(Matt. 24:21-28) speaks to the final 3 1/2 years of the Tribulation and is called the 'Great Tribulation'. (24:21)

(Matt. 24:22) "And except those days should be shortened there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened." God here extends hope to those going through this horrific time, that He will not take it to the full 3 1/years. As to how long, we are not told. He does this for His people, the 'elect'. They are the true Israel made up of Israelites who recognize Christ as the Messiah and Son of God. And they are Gentiles who have recognized Christ as Israel's Messiah and the Son of God.

During this time there will be many false Christ's and prophets. Christ warns His people not to believe them. (Matt. 24:23-25) "Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Behold, I have told you before."

These false Christs and prophets will apparently do great miracles and be very convincing as a result. How is it they can do these things? Answer: By the power of Satan. Same as Pharaoh's sorcerers and magicians did before Moses. (Ex. 7:10-11) (Ex. 7:20-22) Such demonstrations will be hard for many to ignore. But to the elect of God, the people of God, they will not be fooled.

Plus, Christ's Second Coming will not be like the first when it was unknown except to a few. At the Second Coming, all will see and know His return. (Matt. 24:26) "Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be."

(Rev. 1:7) "Behold he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him...."

(Matt. 24:28) "For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together."

(Job 39:27-30) "Doth the eagle mount up at thy command, and make her nest on high?....She dwelleth and abideth on the rock, upon the crag of the rock, and the strong place. From thence she seeketh the prey, and her eyes behold afar off. He young ones suck up the blood: and where the slain are, there is she."

And upon Christ's return the carcases will be many. And there will be added more at His return. See again, (Isaiah 63:1-6)

continued from post #(54):

(Matt. 24:29-30) "Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken. And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven; and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory."

Let any who believe the 7 year Tribulation is already past, heed this verse. For immediately following the Tribulation period, Christ returns from heaven for all the world to see. And there will be tremendous chaos in the heavens. The sun and moon are darkened and the stars are falling.

If the sun and moon are darkened, how does any see? Because the Son is the great light that now shines. No wonder every eye shall see Him. The light of the world is coming again. (John 8:12) "Then spake Jesus again unto them saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."

(Rev. 21:23) "And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof."

And "all the tribes of the earth shall mourn". Why? Because He who has been rejected and mocked and killed, is really the Son of God and has come back to set all aright. Most especially will the Israelites grieve at this. (Zechariah 12:10) "And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn."

(Matt. 24:31) "And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other." Do not confuse this with the Rapture of the Church. The Church has already been raptured by this time. This is not the Church taken up into heaven. This is Christ coming back down to Earth has He has promised He would do.

Remember, the 144,000 have been preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom to Israel and all nations during this terrible trial of the Tribulation period. (Matt. 24:14) And there are those throughout the world that have believed, God's elect. And they have believed though they have undergone terrible persecutions and trials for their faith. But now, He Who is the Son of God has returned and His angels are gathering His elect, His people to Him. These are those who '"endured to the end". (Matt. 24:13) To the end of the terrible Tribulation period. Now the end has come. (Matt. 24:14)

(Matt. 24:29-30) shows that immediately after the Tribulation Jesus the Messiah returns. And when He returns, He sends His angels to gather His elect from one end of heaven to the other. (Matt. 24:31)

This gathering has special reference to Israelites. There are certainly 'His elect' among the Gentile nations, but this gathering is bringing His people Israel back to the land from which they have been scattered all over the world.

And because it occurs at Christ's 2nd Coming, it is for the purpose of setting up the Kingdom of God upon earth with Israel as the leading nation and from where Christ will rule and reign in Jerusalem. In other words, the Kingdom is restored to Israel. The promise to David will be fulfilled.

(Isaiah 11:1) "And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots."

(Isaiah 11:4) "But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked."

(Isaiah 11:6) "The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them."

(Isaiah 11:10) "And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious."

And just like (Matthew) shows the gathering of Israelites back to Israel after the Tribulation, so also does (Isaiah).

(Isaiah 11:11-12) "And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.

"And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth."

This gathering of Israel back to the land at the setting up of the Kingdom is called the 'second time'.

Christ now gives the 'parable of the fig tree'. It's purpose is to emphasize the 'when' of all that Christ has said. Because the when was center of the disciples questions in (Matt. 24:3).

(Matt. 24:32-35) "Now learn a parable of the fig tree; when his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh.

"So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors."

"Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled."

"Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away."

Christ uses a common fig tree and the natural order of its bearing leaves and the seasons. When you see the tree put forth leaves, you know summer is right around the corner.

When you therefore see 'all these things', know it is near. In other words, 'all these things' are as the leaves budding on the tree. So, what are 'all these things'? They are everything Christ has said from (24:4-31). And has been shown, it pertains to the 70th Week of (Daniels) vision. (Matt. 24:15) being key as Christ mentions (Daniel) and the middle point of the 70th Week. (Daniel 9:27)

And that is a very clear indicator of time. "When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation...stand in the holy place...", you are in the middle of the 70th Week. And know that the 'generation' that sees all these things shall not pass till all is fulfilled. In other words, till the end comes.

I do not believe 'that generation' is the one who saw Israel become a nation in 1948. 'That generation' is the one who sees the future 70th Week begin. In 1948 Israel became a recognized nation by the world and many were brought back to the land. But she was brought back in 'unbelief'. She still rejects her God and Messiah.

I believe the 'budding of leaves' speaks to the life of the sap in the tree giving life to the new leaves. Which I believe speaks to God's Spirit giving life to His national Israel. Which will not happen until He begins working with Israel again and fulfilling the time of Jacobs Trouble, the 70th Week, the Tribulation period. The generation that sees those things, can know the time is short.

I do believe whole heartedly that Israel brought back into the land as a nation in 1948, was by the hand of God. But it was in His providential dealings with Israel. He brought her back because Israel needs to be in the land in order for God to accomplish His purpose with her. She returned to the land, but she didn't return to God. But she will.

(Matt. 23:38-39) "Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord."

Christ just told the disciples that 'when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.' (Matt. 24:33). Now in (Matt. 24:36) He says, "But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

So the Jews during that Tribulation, and the saved Gentiles, can know that the end is very near. But they cannot know the exact day or hour as that is left up to God. But, if the abomination of desolation occurs at the midpoint of the 7 years, why couldn't they know the day? Well, Christ did say in (Matt. 24:22) "And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved...." Which means they will be shortened, and they won't know when that day will be.

And because you won't know exactly the day, don't get slack in following the Lord just because He doesn't come right away. (Matt. 24:37-39) "But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

"For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying, and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark.

"And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be."

There is in all born of Adam, this idea, that if I do something wrong and nothing happens to punish me right then, then it must be ok, or there is nothing there to punish me. (Ecclesiastes 8:11) "Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil."

So it was before the Flood of Noah's day and so it will be in end times. Everything will be going as it always has...until it doesn't. And once it happens, game over. Time was allotted before to do something about it. That is now all over. The 'die is cast'.

(Matt. 24:40-42) "Then shall two be in the field the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill, the one shall be taken, and the other left. Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come."

This is not the Rapture of the Church. This is the 2nd Coming of Christ to the earth. These who are taken are taken in judgement. These who are left are left because they are the believers. At the Rapture, the believers are taken and the unbelievers left behind. It's important to see the distinction between the Rapture and the 2nd Coming of Christ.

Therefore (Matt. 24:43-44) "But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh."

Christ has just emphasized the importance for the believer during the Tribulation period to be ready and watchful for the Lord's return. He will now describe the faithful servant during that time, and the evil servant during that time.

Again, this is not the Church being addressed here. It can be directed either to the believing Jews or the believing Gentiles of that Tribulation period. If to the Jews it is to those who have repented of their nations wrong of rejecting their Messiah, and have believed and accepted Christ as their King and they await His promised return. And to the Gentiles it is those who have believed the same. The believing Jews will make up the believing nation of Israel during the Millennial reign of Christ. The believing Gentiles will make up the believing Gentile nations during the Millennial reign of Christ. At the 2nd coming of Christ, this is what He is doing. He is setting up the Kingdom of God on earth.

The wise servant: (Matt. 24:45-47) "Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods."

The faithful wise servant shall be rewarded more authority in the Kingdom rule on earth.

The evil servant: (Matt. 24:48-50) "But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

The evil servant will be separated from the true believing and is placed with the hypocrites and unbelieving.

The question naturally arises, is this place of hypocrisy and gnashing of teeth, a place in the kingdom on earth, or is it speaking of eternal destination. The question becomes more complex to me as the 'evil servant' is called a 'servant'. And he does say 'My lord'. Again, this is not about Church or the Christians place in Heaven. It is about the earthly kingdom and ones placement there. The Christian is not involved here.

At this time I will just say, it is much better for those in that day, to be a faithful watching servant, than an evil and non-watching servant. Ones place in that earthly kingdom will reflect that.
