The End of ALL Entitlements

I am curious to hear from all of you in response to the following hypothetical question:

If all entitlements were to end tomorrow, what do you think would be the state of our culture and economy in ten years?

By the way, under this notion, American citizens would receive compensation to direct contribution programs such as Social Security, but ONLY to the amount each individual paid into that program. And I apologize in advance if this type of thread is posted in the wrong forum of this site.

Your question is confusing. You're asking me to differentiate between something that is synonymous. Rather than delve any deeper, I simply defer to my original hypothetical presented.
Okay, let me try again. What do you and/or Trump consider an "entitlement"?

And I honestly am not trying to be difficult, but Trump's statement was weird considering he is/was reportedly a billionaire so I find it beyond petty that someone of that stature would begrudge those of us who work for a living as wage earners, the payoffs that we've contributed to throughout our lives.

Correction: How is it an entitlement if a person is REQUIRED to pay into the system their entire working life considering the money is taken from your paycheck before you ever even see it.
I think the question is outside the scope of what I was asking -- or at least irrelevant. For the sake of discussion, simply assume the program is eliminated and a payout given to each individual passed on the amount they contributed. I'm looking for a description of what America would look like. If it helps, then I'll redefine as follows: If our current federal and state government were compelled to limit their spending to the outlays type done by those governments in 1920, what would America look like from cultural standpoint in 20 years?

I'll preface my answer stating that other than Social Security, I'm totally unexperienced with the topic.

I'll therefore limit my response to my belief that without government entitlements the church would take on a greater role. I decline of the church in the mid-sixties coincides with the broadening of government social welfare programs.

An entitlement is something that provides individual compensation outside the scope of payment for goods or services rendered.

Was forced to pay, by government promising the benefit. SURPRISE everyone is learning the dirtbag politicians STOLE our contributions and spent OUR money on other crap. Any private sector plan that did that, all the executives would be in prison.

Very good. That is the type of response I am attempting to elicit (and failing to do so it would appear).

Free adult education at night at the local school, the library are the only government programs I can think of I do not personally pay into except for taxes I pay. List some entitlements you would eliminate.

AtlasWept is confused. The question is straight forward.

We’d have a lot fewer Boomers, that’s for sure.

Ten years? It would take about ten months before the country fell apart. Way too many millions of people who rely on SS and Medicare to survive.
The country would not fall apart. But certain mindsets would be imperiled. It would be a sink or swim culture. Charity would be doled out based on merit, not based on demand. SS and Medicare will eventually disappear because the demographics of country's future will extinguish them. Of course, if it helps, then assume SS and Medicare continued ad infinitum. What would your vision be?

I would take it back to 1920. What entitlements did we fund then?

Democrats like entitlements because once they're created it is impossible to revoke them.
Sadly true. Entitlements start out as the exception to the rule. After a time, it becomes the norm. Then you .have more requests for exceptions. All are done under the guise of "help" -- using everyone's money through forced charity called taxation. It is the curse of socialism. Infect/corrupt ethics one person at a time or one group at a time.

Probably a better way would be to say "If you've worked less than 5 years, you get X amount of money, if you've worked 5-10 years you get X+Y amount and if you've worked more than 10 then you get X+Z amount"
