Tariff ruling.

The Supreme Court did not ban tariffs.
The Supreme Court said when you set tariffs, do it as the Constitution dictates. The congress has the power of the purse. If not, it is illegal. This restores seperation of power as set down by our founding fathers.

It is no different than immigrants. The US has not said no immigrants. It said immigrants must come in legally. The rules of our conststution must be followed. No illegal immigrants.

If it is good for immigrants, it is good for Donald Trump. DO IT BY THE RULES of our government.
Yep. Keep trade and tariff agreements optimized.

Just do it like an adult. A normal, intellligent, stable, mature, professional, informed adult.

For a change.

Time for another edition of Bad Analogy Theater!

The president is not a pirate and the SCOTUS can't order pirates to stop pirating.
Well, the point was that something that was man-made (so to speak) was intevening in the market economy. If the plant that makes widgets was destroyed by a fire, that would have the same effect...the supply goes down so the price goes up. If it were proven to be arson, would you expect to get reimbursed? Probably not.
And why wouldn't consumers expect relief if the pirates are found and fined? I would expect consumer groups to file civil class action suits against the pirates to get some of those fines for consumers as well.

Arr!
Good luck suing the pirates. You may get some money out of the whole affair but then you get into “where did you buy your widget?” Wal*Mart using their scale gets a lower price from Widget Incorporated than the mom and pop place. So the pain of tariffs or pirates or arson you’ve experienced at Wal Mart is a paper cut compared to the sucking chest wound I experienced at my local 5 and dime.
Tariffs are a tax, paid by the American People.
Yes. We were having a discussion about Big Business suing the Trump administration for remedies for the illegal taxes they were paying. My arguemnt with Eman623 was that the counsumer isn’t paying a tax...they are paying a higher price due to the tax but we’re not entitled to relief because of the tariff. They think that we should be.

Tarirris are a tax paid for by American consumers...you’re 100% correct.

Early euphoria over trump being ***** slapped on tariffs has given way to the realization he will find ways to thwart the Court of the will of the people by imposing inflationary tariffs in other ways.
What good was the decision then?... and In what "other ways"? and what if the people wanted the tariffs? would the decision then be thwarting their will?
The decline also being due to the HUGE disappointment on GDP and signs of continued, entrenched inflation............due to tariffs.
what good was the decision then? what was it's impact economically? "entrenched" starting from when? and caused by what specifically?

He has other authority. The one he used he cant now but Congress has given Presidents in the past broad authority to impose Tariffs, he just has to use the right authority.
Those other authorities are weak sauce. He wanted to do the illegal way because it’s quick and he can do global tariffs at a high scale. Now he has to wait for a one and a half to a two year period to even start new tariffs under the main tool. And he tries to lie about a tariff being a matter of national security he will get sued and lose in court again for being slick.

WASN'T THROUGH WITH IT..

But...

If you were truly interested in facts and truth, you'd read up on what the Judge actually said about prison time.

And "sentencing?" Look up the term in how it is applied in a legal sense.

Oh wait!

AI Bots show you to be the fool of usmb:

Sentencing is the formal, post-conviction process where a judge imposes penalties—such as incarceration, probation, or fines—on a defendant found guilty, aimed at punishment, rehabilitation, deterrence, and incapacitation. It involves evaluating mitigating and aggravating factors, often guided by statutory, determinate, or indeterminate, or federal sentencing guidelines

Donald Trump was given an "unconditional discharge" {LOOK IT UP} (no prison time, fines, or probation) in his New York hush-money case because Judge Juan Merchan determined it was the only legal sentence that did not unconstitutionally interfere with his duties as President-elect. The ruling respected the office of the presidency, even though the court affirmed that the 34 felony convictions still stand

IT'S CALLED A TECHNICALITY
Well suck on this.

Good statement from Justice Gorsuch.

In his dissenting opinion, Kavanaugh wrote, “Although I firmly disagree with the Court’s holding today, the decision might not substantially constrain a President’s ability to order tariffs going forward. That is because numerous other federal statutes authorize the President to impose tariffs and might justify most (if not all) of the tariffs at issue in this case—albeit perhaps with a few additional procedural steps that IEEPA, as an emergency statute, does not require.”

“Those statutes include, for example, the Trade Expansion Act of 1962 (Section 232); the Trade Act of 1974 (Sections 122, 201, and 301); and the Tariff Act of 1930 (Section 338). In essence, the Court today concludes that the President checked the wrong statutory box by relying on IEEPA rather than another statute to impose these tariffs,” he argued.

Yes we know, we paid Biden's inflation tax and it was huge. Glad we got a president in office now, that is bringing that down. A man working for America.

Found online:

"President imposes 1400% tariff on Supreme Court. Issues exemptions for 3 dissenting justices."
