The high priests were APPOINTED by Rome and were shills for the Romans. Herod, the king was
also a Roman appointee. As such they are considered historic traitors. who did whatever Rome wanted them to do. Traditionally---their descendants just went away---Sadducees are no longer extant----or, at least, no one claims SADDUCEAN origin. Jesus was in the
line of Judah according to the Nicean Council which probably got that one fact right--maybe.
(he was a pharisee as was john the mikveh man). Sadducees and Pharisees did not

They were the Jews Moses led out of captivity. Moses died and Joshua and 9 and 1/2 tribes determined what land they would take, For fairness’s sake, they drew lots for who gets what. The Levites were given no land, but various cities to live in.

The land was allotted to ten tribes and two half-tribes; twelve allotments of lands. Interesting that Manasseh, the 13th tribe, got the largest allotment of land. Hmmmm.

Paul was "a Jew of the Jews" but was a Benjamite. Anyone that held to the Jewish religion was a "Jew" regardless of nationality or ethnicity. I'm an American by nationality but my ethnic ancestry is Norwegian/German/Dutch/English.

The "Kingdom of Judah" and the "kingdom of Israel" were created in the days of Rehoboam and Jeroboam. Prior to that the nation was unified and called "Israel". "Israel" was never called "Judea" or the "kingdom of Judah". God gave the name "Israel" to the ten northern tribes under Jeroboam because most of the tribes of Israel were there.

read the NT without knowing that DA JOOOOS hated the Romans and their exploitation
and corruption of Judea just as there is no way to know Hamas without knowing that
jews rejected Muhummad's bid to join and reign over the descendants of
Abraham. There is no way to understand George Washington without knowing
that he, despite being born into a "upper class" anglican family, resented control from London----Thomas Paine had it worse. For Jesus---he
was a typical Pharisee in his time---the group that rebelled against Rome including
