Philadelphia voters will soon hear a familiar election-year sound at their front door: the rap-rap-rap of a Democratic official canvassing for support. But the message they hear might take them by surprise.

After a monthslong effort to get voters to embrace mail-in voting, Democrats in Philadelphia will push supporters to vote in person if they have not already requested a ballot.

The sudden shift in tactics in the biggest city in Pennsylvania, a critical swing state, reveals unease over President Trump’s war on mail-in voting and a rash of court rulings that are still altering the regulations that will govern how ballots are cast and counted in November.

The only secure thing is to walk to the polls, put your mask on, bring some hand sanitizer — just go vote,” said Bob Brady, a former congressman and the chairman of the Philadelphia Democrats. “This president is going to do everything he can to fight any state, or any city that has an overwhelming vote against him — and we will have an overwhelming vote against him. And we’ll be in his cross hairs.”

Mail in voting is still important, but Trump’s lies about voter fraud has people worried about Republican shenanigans.

The next question is, now that Democrats are encouraging in person voting, what are Trump and Trumpers going to bitch about next.

It isn't a switch; its a full-court press. Vote in person, by mail, etc... just vote.

When DEMS vote, they most often win.
That is true..my title is incorrect. I will change it. Thank you.

Basically.

Yep.

There is a reason why republicans construct wild conspiracy theories and erect barrier after barrier to voting. They know their positions are unpopular (doesn't mean they're not good positions--they are just unpopular--a subject for a different thread) so they do whatever they can to make it more difficult to vote.

Gee and a few days ago I said the narrative would change. Seems the dems figured out their voters are not that smart and would invalidate the votes.

Silly democrats.

Especially when they vote two or three times! Or even after they die!

I have said before that any new system will inevitably have problems. Voters unfamiliar with new requirements, ballots that differ in every county, different mail-in requirements in different states or counties all complicate matters. My own ballot just came in the mail and instructions weren’t as simple as I had hoped. But still good to have it early. I may just run it over to my board of elections personally. It is good to have options.

Trump should have long ago called together state election officials and both parties to discuss best practices for mail voting. He could have easily passed legislation providing federal help to pay for extra voting costs this year. Of course instead he chose as always to add fuel to partisan fires. A truly incompetent as well as demagogic non-leader.

This is bullshit, if dems positions were popular, they wouldn't have had to use the Supreme Court to push their shit for 60 years....And the thought of not having the court to push their agenda......well we see it now don't we, extreme panic....

The Supreme Court has upheld laws that made sense and overturned ones that did not. That you were injured by such actions is especially telling.

Good idea. Mail in voting will be a giant clusterfuck. One has to wonder how long it will take to count the votes??

Everyone should go to the polls. The only people who should mail them in are those that are not in the country. Fill out the ballot and put it in the machine with your own hands. That's the only way to make sure YOUR ballot is counted.
