Would You Want To Be President?

The question may be whether Trump ever really wanted to be potus, or whether his campaign was about increasing the earning power of his brand name and currying favor with Russia. IF he was doing biz in Russia and having Ivanka and the three lads concoct a false narrative to tell to congress, then we have a problem of perjury, and if he was getting anything of value from Russia, then it's even a bigger problem for the country.

I a way we can blame the dems for nominating Hillary, but Trump's "lock her up" and impeachment fervor for the person most expected to see elected set the tone.

Impeaching Slick was unusual to say the least, since what he ultimately was caught out over was the allegation by Paula Jones that predated his election to potus by ... years. It had nothing to do with the presidency. Andrew Johnson and Nixon were about allegations of misuse of power WHILE in Office and carrying out Duties.

I'd hoped that was more a 'one off' thing brought about by a GOP House fueled by warriors who saw any political disagreement as a battle to the death with all options on the table. But now, even once Hillary and Trump are gone, the spirit of compromise and bipartisanship and basic civil respect of fellow citizens seems off the table. Ford and Carter and Reagan were sort of about step back from incivility. Hopefully the 'non-sociopaths' can rise up again. LOL
With Trump and him running for President for what you typed, I don't get it. Running for losing or getting more money makes no sense, He is a powerful businessman who was 70 years old or so with no political experience but had defined agendas. Trump was part of the inner circle of media and entertainers. At one of their banquets couple of years or so before he declared to run I have viewed Seth Myers savagely abusing Trump with nasty jokes and he was not smiling. Just one snide remark after another for what seemed a few minutes. I believe that Seth Myers lit Trump's ego on that night. And who would know that Trump is the best President since Reagan's first term up to this point.

I'd rather be a proctologist.

Well, maybe not a proctologist.

But I sure as hell wouldn't want to be President.

Let's forget about that whole proctologist thing.
Not much difference between the two. With either, doing your job will usually result in somebody's ass hurting.
:dunno:

NO way ! Dictator ? Absolutely !
I have many Dictator of America fantasies.

My first executive order would be the death penalty for slower drivers in the left lane.

I think my job approval ratings would go through the roof.

Mine would be the death penalty for all members of Congress, and the confiscation of their property.
We get the polictians we deserve. They give us exactly what we demand of them. And if they don't, we find some more who will.

I don't begrudge a President for taking a lot of golf trips or vacations. They aren't really vacations. I doubt the president ever gets a full night's sleep. Look how much they age in office.

And they have to order the killings of thousands of people, and send American soldiers to their deaths.

Somehow having a great kitchen staff who can cook a steak for you at midnight doesn't quite make up the difference.
Trump isn't aging, because he isn't doing anything, except having fun. Like a child "playing with" their parents' belongings.

Trump has put on a lot of weight since taking office. And he covers up the aging with orange paint and a gravity defying comb-over.

He came to the office pre-aged.

Yeah, I was just saying yesterday that the GOP set the impeachment bar really low by impeaching Clinton over a blowjob, but that didn't mean we had to honor that precedent, and I hope we don't.

What Trump is going through right now is decades of long overdue karma catching up to him.
I don't see any chance the gop senate will convict him, no matter how bad it turns out conspired with Russia. Today the gop is more ticked off that he hasn't resubmitted the names of proposed Judges to the new congress than they are that his fixer and children were lying to congress about negotiations with Russia over a hotel DURING THE CAMPAGIN.

The gop senators just don't want to be primaried and the gop establishment accepted Trump so long as he'd give them their tax cuts and Judges. As venal as that is, given the impeachment of Slick and the whipped up hysteria over Hillary, who is undeniably corrupt took, removing Trump with a conventional election has a lot to be said for it.

Of course the dems could screw this up. Biden is old as hell, but Pelosi shows the advantages of sending in an old dog to a fight with another old dog.

Many years ago I read an article that Republican were sore about the Nixon situation. That the then progressives pushed Watergate into something more then it was. Nixon was loyal and it cost him. A simple break in became a tenacious drama. Clinton would have had people killed. Repubs tried to get back. For in the end a blowjob and Watergate were not that different.

He looks like shit, literally. He might lose 30pounds with a 7 day liquid fast and colon purging.

Well.

One is a felony and the other is fun.

Watergate should not have resulted in Nixon's resignation.

I'm sure there are more. Those are just the ones I found with a half-assed search.

No he wasn't. He was a paranoid kook who freaked out over the two bit Watergate circus and got caught in the coverup. He was not a "crook". He was a kook.

Nixon was one of the last politicians who had a guilt complex. The man sweated when cornered and had some paranoid ways. Do you believe that Clinton would have done the same? Actions are felonies if pushed. For Clinton it was not pushed. I will never believe in Woodward and Bernstein again and look at "All the Presidents Men" as a comedy. I ain't backing up Nixon, I am abhorring the politics that made his fate. We love a scapegoat in our nation. We used to like underdogs. Then Trump arrived.
