Transsexuals are about .3% of the population. They are probably a smaller percentage in the military.

That is not the point. There is no good reason why the military or the VA for that matter should be paying for this type of procedure.

What transgendered service members will be able to do is seek care from military healthcare facilities which would then be able to supply the required hormone therapy instead of having to go out to the civilian doctors (or even the black market). To me that means they will have consistent access to their medication through military sources and not have treatments cut off due to deployment.

The error is the thinking that the military members are invested in someone else's sex change. They aren't. They don't care. They will be happy to give up passwords and strategy movements.
