Pentagon officials discussing how to respond if Trump issues controversial orders

So...in other words, posse comitatus was NOT "done away with" and is still the law.
Look at the ruling. It allows the military to use lethal force against American citizens.

That effectively ends posse comitatus.

Randomly arrest his former chairman of joint chiefs out of revenge? Ladies and gentlemen, the nazis have arrived.
"Randomly?" Milley publicly stated he would commit treason.

You're an idiot.

In the end. The 82nd didn't participate because that was an illegal order that tRump issued

Actually, they didn't participate because they were never sent in. They were brought in on basically a standby basis.

It is not the Pentagon's job to decide what's controversial.

It is the Pentagon's job to OBEY the Commander in Chief.
As I said, any legal order would undoubtedly be obeyed, in spite of alarmist fears. That is all that is to be expected of Officers at any level of military command. Try to get a grip.

The only concern on the matter is whether the order is lawful. Anyone suggesting any other standard needs to fired.
The oath of enlistment says the soldier will support and defend the Constitution AND will obey the orders of the president and those above him/her according to the UCMJ. So, they have to decide if an order is lawful, but if it is they have to obey it.

Milley committed treason last time
Good luck with that. If you get satisfaction, you will have to recall him to active duty at $18,491.70/month for no telling how many months, for your courts martial, probably for a year, providing legal services. I am sure he would enjoy Washington, again, especially with the pay and not having duties except to coordinate his defense, free to go about his life, as Trump has been. Knock yourself out.

Ignoring the point last time officers didnt follow the law

Ah yes, the nazi slur. At what point do you idiots realize you've been lied to and it's all a game. My God, grow up and figure out basic stuff.

Whether that is true or not, or simply opinion, would require court action, probably lengthy, and with no assurance of outcome. I have heard Washington is pretty in the spring.

You chose to ignore the fact that Miley illegally called the Chinese and promised to inform them of US plans
Aware of the call, but not at all sure, you can make the case for treason, and know it would require recall to active duty status. However, with no duties other than to work with a defense team for however long it takes to get through the process, also on the government payroll.

Forget Miley

There are plenty of back stabbing active duty officers that need to be dismissed

There is just too much information that disagrees with you. For instance, the 82nd was ordered to have Bayonets but the Joint Chief of Staff modified that order to allow them only to have them in the scabbards and not on the weapon. If the JCS is giving that modification, the original order had to come from above him. There were a few orders give above the JCS and they were modified until the Generals and Admirals (both active and retired) threatened to raise such a stink that tRump finally sent the 82nd home. Congress is the only ones that can authorize the use of Active Duty Troops on US soil. Don't look for Congress to ever rescind that.

The first thing Trump should do is court martial Milley. Then he can fire any flag officer involved in woke nonsense for a lack of confidence in their leadership. After that, he can fire any flag officer unwilling to follow lawful orders to secure the nation's borders.

But there is no deep state.

Not sure what this has to do with anything. Trump said he wanted to unite the country. Not the Democrats.

He did. He united the majority of the electorate against Kamala Harris and the Democrats. Now, it's time to investigate Democrat & deep state wrongdoing.

Wow, with that kind of "logic"... you could get to the Moon without a spaceship.
