Donald Trump has launched a one-sided war of words with the federal judge who is presiding over two of the legal actions against Trump University and Mr. Trump himself. Judge Curiel is precluded from commenting by the requirements of his position, so Trump's assault is extremely unfair, regardless of the validity of his claims. As to the validity of those claims:

What's Behind the Attacks on Judge Gonzalo Curiel?

So, what in world is this man doing? How does this make sense? He is, so far, completely on his own. McConnell, Ryan, Gingrich, are all condemning him, so there appears to be no political upside. This will hardly make his legal case easier, though one can hope that the judge possesses qualities of emotional maturity that Trump can only dream of possessing, and will still be able to act impartially.

1- Is there some political advantage to Trump's actions which have so far eluded observers?
2- Is there some judicial advantage to subjecting the judge to public condemnation?
3- Is there any validity to Trump's claims of unfair treatment, and any way to draw a direct line between the judge's rulings and his Mexican heritage? If so, why hasn't Trump filed any motions to disqualify the judge?
4- Is this some kind of damage control? A way to deflect or mitigate the effect of these drip-drip releases pertaining to the many accusations of fraud that he is facing?

Trump would be wise to tone it down. Get back to the issues and focusing on Clinton

Let me ask everyone... who's name is ALWAYS in the news, on Cable and on radio?.....I don't know about you, but all that is talked about is TRUMP....Hardly a word about the Hildebeast, or the Berning Madman, as Tuesday is the day of the bitch's coronation with the N.J. and Cal. votes....BUT just look, even on USMB, and see how many threads deal with Trump..... On the first page of the ACTIVE TOPICS, Trump currently has 10 threads....I didn't bother counting the Idiot DemoRAT threads, but perhaps they are HALF of Trumps. Trump is the consummate PR specialist after YEARS of Being #1 on REALITY TV. He KNOWS that with the election 5 months out, getting serious isn't going to win the game now, it's NAME RECOGNITION and keeping your name in front of America. I believe Oscar Wilde said it first..."The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about."...Another is "There is NO SUCH THING as BAD PUBLICITY!"

Trump, after the convention, the VP picks, and perhaps cabinet choices will bring valid policy, and agenda's to the fray. IF you stop, and think that a day and a half ago, the Hildebeast supposedly brought forth her FOREIGN POLICY speech, which had virtually nothing to do with foreign policy but was all about bashing Trump, it was HAILED by all the liberal sycophant media as her TOUR DE FORCE against Trump, and LOOKING back, it has virtually disappeared from everyones mind....TRUMP though, is still on everyone's lips, and will continue to be, whether he says other supposedly OUTRAGEOUS things, or Like his supposed call out for NOT releasing the $5.6 MILLION to Veteran's groups (Did Trump say WHEN he would release those funds?...NOPE!), he'll play the media and the fools on the left AND RIGHT like he's playing a fiddle... The man really is a fucking genius!...LIVE WITH IT!:boohoo:

That was weak. He played the media and people talk about him are not qualifications to be President.

Apparently what I wrote about PR went so far over your head all you can do is...

Not a good example. Oscar Wilde wrote that before he was prosecuted and thrown in prison for indecency. A charge that was generated entirely by his bad publicity. Perhaps for Mae West bad publicity was a good thing, but that's arguable. For presidential candidates? Bad publicity has usually been a kiss of death. If this proves not to be the case with Mr., Trump it will be because we have degenerated as a people to the point where vitally important traditions and values have been abandoned.

As far as Trump's "genius", give me a break. Trump is a vulture, picking at the carcass of the Republican party after a sizable percentage of their electorate abandoned them. Get the order right. FIRST, they rejected the Republicans, THEN they turned to Mr. Trump., because he was willing to go lower than anyone else when it came to throwing red meat to an angry mob. Gandhi was a genius because he got people to risk everything they had to take the moral high ground, often at the cost of getting their heads beaten in. All Trump does is goad people who are already angry to stay angry. All he does is appeal to their most base, crude fears and hatreds. Appealing to people's better angels is genius. Appealing to their hatred is nothing but demagoguery, the stupidest of all political tactics.

This will hardly make his legal case easier

It likely won't hurt it. I don't know if his is to be a jury trial. If it is, this "crap" may make it hard to seat a jury.

The most baffling thing to me is why, given his feeling that the judge cannot do his job, Trump hasn't moved formally for recusal.
Because, according to the Atlantic article I posted above, there is zero grounds for such a motion, a fact which I am very sure Trump's lawyers have explained to him.

This is incredibly dangerous stuff, akin to Trump's irresponsible attacks on journalists. Both the news media and the judiciary are flawed institutions, and offering thoughtful criticism of these fundamental democratic institutions is the responsibility of all citizens. That's not what Trump is doing. He is merely recognizing the buttons that his target audience are receptive to and he pushes those buttons harder than anyone else. He has no idea what importance the press and the judiciary has in the democratic process and he doesn't care. Making wild, completely unsupported attacks on... everyone, is perfect from Trump's POV. Don't believe the lyyyyyyyin' news people, don't respect the courts. Only listen to ME! Astonishingly, he's conned MILLIONS of people into doing just that. Get your news from The Trump Press!

Is there some political advantage to Trump's actions which have so far eluded observers?

Yes, there absolutely is and what it is is plain as day to see.

You'll note that Trump injected the "race factor" right at the time that focus on the Trump U. case was shifting to the verity of Trump U. being a fraudulent enterprise. The point is to keep the discussion from focusing more than it briefly did last week when the judge unsealed the Trump U. "Playbook." Everyone is talking about this race issue, which if nothing else, resonates with Trump's base of support -- blue collar white men who are pissed off, largely over the fact that white folks will lose their majority position in the U.S. and who see themselves becoming marginalized just as they, prior to the Civil Rights Act, marginalized everyone who wasn't a white male, including white women.

Exactly. And that is why the purpose for this "Mexican/race" line of discussion, while demonstrative of Trump's "anything but non-racist" attitudes, if not overt leanings, is about something else. That something being, IMO, what I noted in post #9.

The whole thing is just one more example of Trump controlling the media discussion. He's repeatedly throughout the campaign said literally anything he can that's thoroughly outrageous as a redirecting tactic for moving the public conversation away from something concrete and factual and toward some arguable topic for which nobody can readily and in the space of a news piece comprehensively cover. What folks think about race is yours, my, and their opinion. What is written in black and white in that Trump U. Playbook is not anyone's opinion; it's there in black and white.

It's a damn shame that Trump is such an irresponsible, immature messenger, because there are underlying truths in many of the crazy things he says. It's astonishing to me how Trump can sit there and tell interviewers that he is going off on these racist rants against Judge Curiel because of unfair rulings and not have ONE interviewer ask him which rulings, why does he think they were unfair, and why, if he feels he was being treated unfairly, he didn't seek to remove Judge Curiel from the case. Remember when Trump was bragging about his success rates in court cases, and how he never settles? Now he's gone from master of the courts to poor widdle victim.

I'm not sure that he gains more from the distraction than he loses in every other way. His principle task is to win over undecideds. He's going to have to fend off depredations of his voter base by Gary Johnson and attrition due to voter fatigue factors as he continues to yell at everyone for the next six months. That's gonna wear thin pretty quickly. All these quotes from Gingrich and Jan Brewer about Trump's incredibly poor judgement are going to come back to bite him. I think this strategy will ultimately bring more attention to Trump U, not less. He should have gone off about something completely unrelated. We'll see. His numbers will have to tank before he'll try something new.

Meanwhile, bookings at his hotels are plummeting. His brand is becoming toxic.

IOW, lie.

Listen to the Repubs. They're saying the same thing, that Drumpf should stop being honest and should instead, lie convincingly enough that he could be mistaken for a human being.

I heard one say he should not answer any questions which has been the way Rs handle all their lies.

Drumpf is getting a pass from this judge as well as the RWNJs. He is refusing to take responsibility for his tax fraud, his idiotic burfur crap, his hiring illegals and foreigners and paying $1.50 an hour, his own business being in China, his saying he would force Apple to mfgr in the US, his promise to gut the US Constitution, raise our debt and deficit, his promise to slash taxes for his 1% cronies and raise the working class taxes through the roof, his past lying, cheating, stealing and lying some more ---

The list is endless.

Oh and in addition to my partial list, do we really want a president who is being sued or is suing more than 3000 cases?

Or who carries on endless middle of the night feuds on Twitter? He's certifiable, has failed at almost everything and really not all that bright.

The media is so clueless they make it easy; they still earnestly believe they have a shred of credibility left as 'journalists', and they're terrified and bewildered that he's still around and pulling ahead of their bosses' candidates. This is seen as very bad for them, as these Parties spend billions buying advertising space and time from media companies, campaigns are a major source of profits, and if they can't deliver they stand to lose major bucks for their bosses, and being replaced.

And of course it's obvious why the usual astro-turfers are still trying to paint this 'judge' as some sort of hapless victim who shouldn't step down from the case. I mean, just because the 'judge' is an Obama appointed member of a virulently racist gang of pro-immigration Mexican Nazis is no reason to bash him, right? .... lol

And why is the Southern California District Court claiming jurisdiction over this case again? ...

Report: Were judge's Mexican parents illegals? | Washington Examiner

1 day ago - GotNews.com can find no evidence that Curiel's parents ever became ... border with Mexico at least twice and might not have become a U.S. citizen. ... of the judge's parents that apparently show no Social Security number.

Yes. They can't tell the truth about his past, as the stories conflict wildly. lol ... It just gets more hilarious; everything these inept political hacks try to spin just blows up in their faces literally every time. The Onion can't make up stuff this funny.

Trump was bragging (yeah, hard to believe, I know, but he was bragging) about how high his success rate was in court cases, and how he never settles, and how he's the master of the judiciary. Now he's a poor victim? That was quick. He has no lawyers? He has no faith in the system he claims to have mastered?

Poll after poll and survey after survey shows the same thing. Americans are appallingly ignorant. They are ignorant about other countries and they are equally ignorant about their own. Hence, Trump.

1. It detracts attention away from the allegations of fraud contained in these court cases. No one is talking about the alleged fraud and Trump's sleezy business tactics, they're only talking about the judge. The day after a ruling came down which saw the sales manual from Trump U released to the public, no one is talking about what that manual revealed, which is very damning, they're only talking about the judge. So it's worked.

2. Trumpbots now believe that Trump is the subject of a judicial witch hunt, which is completely false. They are parroting Trumps lies all over this and other social media.

3. None.

4. Yes
