Supreme Court Oral Arguments in the Birthright Citizenship Case

It's not the baby's fault it's parents are a couple of greedy assholes trying to rip America off.

But as long as the kid is under the age of 21 they really don't have the right to claim asylum.

No, they don't. No one said they did.

Does anyone know what document this snippet is from?

WRONG.

The primary reason most illegals sneak onto the US is because they know they can get away with it.

And they know that Democrats will pay them once they get here.

Democrats use migrants to commit fraud on a massive scale. Minneapolis proved that.

Doesn't matter, because it isn't a law.

It's text from a debate. It doesn't hold the weight of law.

I think the context of the debate matters greatly towards any understanding and appreciation for the resulting law.

You disagree?

Personally this stuff is often frustrating to me. It should be obvious that if you illegally break into our nation, your child doesn't get citizenship.

I share your frustration Sue. Our justice system is so caught up in procedure that they have shoved all common sense out of the room. Common sense says you are 100% right, but these courts only see the written legal procedure and precedent, not able to rule from wisdom but rather, stuck just playing connect-the-dots from all legal precedent that went before them.

The illegal does not. The child born here does.

80% of countries do not have this provision for people BREAKING IN to our nation to give birth. So. You're in favor of so much of our tax dollars doing to support these kids for most of their lives, even after their parents paid little to nothing into the system?

(NOTE: this is different than charitable Christian giving, as Jesus said in 'give to Caesar what is Caesar's..)

Trumps EO also bars citizenship to babies born here to mothers that were here legally.

This is the issue before the SCOTUS.

I disagree that the 14th Amendment was ever intended to include the births of children to illegals and reward their criminal entry to the U.S. with automatic citizen status for their children, if born here.

There is nothing in the Constitution that anyone should interpret as a free pass for criminal activity.

It should have always been understood that Constitutional birth right citizenship is never to be a reward for criminal entry into the U.S.

We do have the provision sealed in the Constitution. Without an amendment changing it, all persons born here are citizens.

It was CLEAR it was for all persons born here, because it was argued in Congress at the time and those saying that it was just for the children of slaves lost their argument and those supporting ALL PERSONS won, and also later on it was codified by them.

Few are born here the year illegal's arrive.

But, about 33,000 to up to 70,000 estimated babies are born each year here, to women on tourist visas, and temporary work visas or student visas I just read!

Not all persons.....only those persons that are under US jurisdiction.

I'd bet you my paycheck that if everyone that claimed birthright citizenship were voting GOP you'd want to deport them.

Link?

I want to see proof that (according to you) after the debate was settled, the children of undocumented / illegal aliens were to be more entitled to U.S. Citizenship than the children born to any foreign ambassadors would be.

Want and can, are two different things Mud....that's what it seems like you can't accept.

The 14th Amendment was written with black Americans and only black Americans in mind.
