Note, it's all 'the president's fault, with help from the media.' Not that he chose the wrong battles...

WASHINGTON -- Pennsylvania State Treasurer Bob Casey Jr.'s big lead over Sen. Rick Santorum has grown slightly in a new poll released today. The Quinnipiac University poll of 1530 Pennsylvania voters shows Casey leading the two-term incumbent by 52 to 34 percent -- an 18 point lead -- in his bid for re-election in 2006. That compares to a 50-39 percent lead in July by the same pollster.
Clay Richards, the assistant director of the university's polling institute, says Santorum "is in trouble in this race." Richards said Santorum "has suffered a lot of bad PR in the last two months. That, plus the president's weakening support in Pennsylvania, have combined to give (the senator) some real bad numbers."
The telephone survey was conducted from Sept. 27 to Monday and had a sampling error margin of plus or minus 2.5 percentage points.
