The rest of the world doesnt have the amount of oil we have locked up in Alaska, or the amount of natural gas we have. The rest of the world doesn't have our potential to be oil independent.

Oil is a world commodity. We are importing oil right now, that could be kept and refined here. But it doesn't work that way. Oil is sold on the world market. If we built 100 pipelines out of Canada, guess where that oil is going when it gets to the Gulf Coast?

The oil lost from Russia accounts for 245,000bpd. We already get 6 times that amount from Canada. That amount could be made up with just small production increases by OPEC countries.

We could have ended OPEC needed oil in 80's, and fucked that up behind politics, by tapping the Orinoco Sand Belt in Venezuela, which has over 1200 Billion barrels of oil in the ground. The largest reserves in the world bar none. That oil production would have stayed in the Western Hemisphere, and could have been refined in Venezuela and Colombia, and could have also had refineries built in the countries f Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador, and pipelined north into Mexico, which would have created wealth in those countries, and prevented all of the immigration from there for the last several decades.

Alaska pays it's citizens for the oil produced. I believe you call that Socialism.
