Did Pope Francis help the church by going woke?

No, it was not I who said it. Jesus noted, "Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. I research, and I researched this in my own life experiences and reached the conclusion, He's right!
How do you know what he said?

As you are new the the forum, you do not know my story. I was a toddler with my Little Golden Books, learning about God. I told my parents I wanted God to come to me just like he did with Noah and Abraham. They thought that was cute and smilingly told me God didn't do things like that any more.

Even as a baby, stories emerged about me being super stubborn. And I told God if he could do it then, he could do it now. Stubborn and determined, I went in search of God. Remember the passage about needing the heart of a child? I've often reflected on that, and I think the reason for my experiences of God is that as a child, I didn't want anything from God, I just wanted to know him. My first experience of God was when I was ten. So no, the toddler-me's desire didn't end with me find God out in the backyard.

Since you want truth, here's the truth: You will never believe my accounts any more than you believe Biblical accounts. You will dismiss them as brain burps, childish misunderstandings of what I was experiencing, wishful thinking. Go ahead and think that, as I could not care less. I know the reality. And my mantra became, Seek and find God--then read the Bible. The reason I dove into the Bible when I was older, is because I wanted other perspectives of God. And....The Old Testament completely bewildered me; it was so different from my own experience. Eventually I ran into the Jewish atheist, whose first language was Hebrew. The Hebrew language perspective of God is entirely different from the English language perspective of God. Read, studied correctly, God was the same as in my experiences.

Again, once I learned to read, my favorite stories were Greek and Roman myths. They were the best! It's why I keep asking you the difference between Greek/Roman gods and the One God, as portrayed in the Bible. The differences are striking, and I do not understand the determination of maintaining they are the same or even alike. People need to do more research/study of both.
When I was young I imagined all manner of things based on my Catholic teachings as well. The nuns told me I had a one track mind because they couldn’t answer my questions when I was only 10.

Homosexuals are an abomination and deserve death.
Like many similar commandments, the stated punishment for willful violation was the death penalty, though minors under 13 years of age were exempt from this, as from any other penalty.[21] However, even in Biblical times, it was very difficult to get a conviction that would lead to this prescribed punishment. The Jewish Oral Law states that capital punishment would be applicable only if two men were caught in the act of anal sex, if there were two witnesses to the act, if the men involved were warned that they committed a capital offense, and the two men—or the willing party, in case of rape—subsequently acknowledged the warning but continued to engage in the prohibited act anyway. In fact, there is no account of capital punishment, in regards to this law, in Jewish history.

Who said anything about capital punishment? All I am saying is that your God hates homosexual and things they deserve death. You and others claim that the Bible is a word of God so that means God condoned and even ordered the killing of homosexuals. That you can find no record that this occurred is irrelevant. Oh, that would mean is that they disobeyed God.

Apparently the Jews didn't listen to God. Or maybe it wasn't God that commanded it in the first place. And since you don't believe God exists, you don't believe God commanded it either.

You seem to always want to have your cake and eat it too. He refused to answer earlier whether the Bible both the old Tasmanian and New Testament is a word of God and now you are unsure. Either the Bible is inspired by God or it is not. Simple. There was another poster here who wasn’t even aware that God said homosexuals are an abomination and deserved death. That is in your Bible. Either you pick and choose as to what you want to be true of what God inspired or you do not believe all of it is inspired. This is what I mean about Christians where you need a questionnaire form for them to complete before discussing anything with them. Because some Christians say that everything is inspired and others say that some of it may not be and still others say that some of it is allegorical. The current tactic is to assert that the Bible was written only for that day and time. If they really was a God of the Bible, he could have simply said that homosexuals were born that way, and did not choose to be gay and that we should treat them with dignity and respect. Regarding slavery, your Bible God could have said that slavery is inhumane and a sin, and the inhabitants at that time would have stopped owning slaves if they believed in the Bible.

So you believe Allah flew to heaven on a winged creature?
Which language did Mohammad speak? What are the literary styles in the Koran? What was their history and culture at the time? I know nothing of any of these. Do you?

- In the book of Leviticus (what you seem to be referring to) there are dozens of laws and rules outlined for the Jewish people - one rule forbids men laying with men and and another, beastiality. The act itself is what is described as an abomination, not the person. There were tribes and cities in those days that practiced the forced rape of men by other men - the laws in Leviticus outlined rules that would prevent that from happening among the Jewish people.

- God made a covenant with the Israelites after he delivered them from Egypt - they were to set their slaves free after 6-7 years. When some of the Israelites disobeyed this covenant - God punished them severely.

Jeremiah 34:

The Broken Promise. This word came to Jeremiah from the Lord after King Zedekiah had made a covenant with all the people in Jerusalem to issue a proclamation of freedom for their slaves. Everyone who had Hebrew slaves, whether male or female, was to grant them freedom, and no one would be allowed to keep a fellow Jew in the state of slavery.

All of the officials and the people who entered into this agreement, swearing that they would set free their male and female slaves so that they would not again be enslaved, obeyed and granted them their freedom. Afterward, however, they changed their minds and once again forced back into slavery those to whom they had granted their freedom.

Then this word of the Lord came to Jeremiah: Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: I made a covenant with your fathers when I brought them out of the land of Egypt, out of the place of slavery, saying, “Every seventh year each one of you must set free any Hebrew who has sold himself to you as a slave and has served you for six years.”

Your fathers, however, did not listen to me or obey me.
Recently you repented and did what is right in my sight by proclaiming that freedom was to be given to your brethren and even making a covenant with me in the house that bears my name. Now, however, you have renounced that agreement and profaned my name when each of you took back the male and female slaves to whom you had granted freedom and forced them once again to be your slaves.

Therefore, thus says the Lord: Inasmuch as you have not obeyed me and refused to grant deliverance to your neighbors and kinsmen, now I will proclaim deliverance for you—deliverance to the sword, to plague, and to famine. I will make you an object of horror to all the kingdoms of the earth.

You imagined. I was not content with imagining. I insisted on reality, what was actual.

When my classmates and I were ten, no one had any problem answering any questions--even the ones the class clowns engineered. Great times with great teachers.

Doesn’t matter. Billions believe. They say they have the truth. Join them. Allaylh will reward all those who do. Please have faith that Mohammed was chosen. It is beautiful that you have faith in what they say. Heaven awaits, beautiful gardens, pristine lakes.
