Did Pope Francis help the church by going woke?

I've always loved mythology--especially Greek/Roman. No, God is different from Greek gods, and the story of Noah in the great flood differs from the story of the Greek flood. Think about it. What was the major difference between Zeus and God in the accounts?
Many cultures had flood myths. You aren’t aware of a god called Enlil, which your Bible copied the account from?

Same question. What is the difference between the Biblical account of God and the flood, and the Enlil account?

Let us dime for the moment that he said it in those exact words. The topic was where are the accounts of the people who were non cultists when Jesus walked the earth who were there (eye witnesses)?
I'll recap it for you again...

The topic Tacitus was writing about was Nero's decision to blame the Christians for the fire that had destroyed Rome in A.D. 64. Tacitus recorded that these so called Christians derived their name from Christus - which was Jesus. He goes on to say that this Jesus fellow was put to death by Pontius Pilot in an extreme fashion and that Jesus was the source of a most mischievous superstition. The fact that this was still known decades after the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ means that it was common knowledge of that day.

Would you like to move on to the Babylonian Talmud which tells that Jesus was put to death for sorcery and inciting Israel to apostasy? Because I can break that one down for you too?

And only Tacitus writes anything? 40 years after? This is like CNN reporting something about about slavery.
It wasn't just Tacitus. Maybe you should have kept reading. But it's funny you think events in antiquity were recorded like events today. No other event in antiquity comes close in the number, timing and accuracy of the evidence. None.

I must have missed the part where Tacitus said it was widely known he resurrected, there were many witnesses, that he was divine, that the townspeople were in fright over zombies walking through town.

It doesn’t matter. Your Bible had the same myth (lie) to make people afraid.
Wrong on two accounts. First, it matters and it matters a lot. Second, the Bible is centered in hope--even in the worst of times.

Have you considered my question: Is it possible you do not want the Bible, faith, religion, to be true?

This is another emotional tactic of the Christians and I saw this in one of your other posts. You just cannot fathom how someone cannot believe as you do. Let me clue you in. It is YOU who wants the Bible story to be true and when others don’t believe it calls your belief into question.

If the Bible is true your god is a monster and I want no part of him. The entire story is based on Greek mythology and simply invented a more powerful god than ever before who controlled everything. The fabricators knew they had to have the fear factor for recruitment and used hell as the final catch.

“Oh it’s ok that you want to sin and all and my god loved you just the same. BUT you won’t go where I go because you must believe me. I mean god. Because I know the truth and you don’t. I’m not trying to put you in fear. I love you. Allahbis the true God. Mohammed is his prophet. I know these things and not just because my family are all Muslims.”

That you can't understand that this means it was common knowledge of his day because it was still known decades after the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ is your failure in deductive reasoning.

Now what about what the Babylonian Talmud said about Jesus?

Let's see if you can figure out where your response falls on this matrix?

There you go again, telling me what I cannot fathom and why I believe as I do. Get rid of the Meriweather in your head and LISTEN. I grew up in a family of atheists, Protestants, Buddhists, and Catholics. All my life is the reality that all people have different beliefs for different reasons. Even the Catholics in my family all saw Catholicism from different perspectives. I've told you before: I've never tried to convince anyone of anything--because what interests me are DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES. It was a family, when faith came up, everyone listened to everyone's else perspective and shared their own.

Can you fathom that? Because if you can't, then you won't be able to understand that my research and study of the Bible has been all about listening to the perspective of the person who wrote the account, and also the perspective of the history and culture of that time--as well as the language and the etymology of words. You tell me that I want the Bible to be true--how clueless can you be!?! I ask you if you want it all to be false, and instead of sincerely considering and answering my question, you tell me what I want! Unbelievable.

No, God is not a monster. Read from the Hebrew perspective, what they were attempting to tell future generations about God in our midst. Also, reading the Bible from God's perspective is more revealing than reading the Bible from one's own perspective. Again, the question: Do you want God to be a monster? Why? Because you don't want to believe? Have you sincerely considered these questions?

Politically, did it help the church? Will governments around the world, which have progressively gotten more woke themselves, now treat the Catholic church better politically? If so, is that a good thing, considering that Christ basically upset every world government on earth as well as every religious institution, causing them to put him to death?

The woke reforms never did the Church any good.

For starters, woke reforms are demanded by woke Catholics who are not noted for their Church attendance to start with; the Reforms are made to satisfy their demands, in the hopes it will entice attendance on their part; nope, they immediately declare the reforms insufficient and demand more.

Meanwhile the more traditionalist Catholics, noted for their attendance, without whom the Churches will be totally empty, get inflicted with these reforms they never wanted, demanded by woke Catholics who never see the inside of a Church. They get frustrated and leave for the non woke evangelicals.

Sin is not okay. Sin enslaves and God calls us out of slavery. This is the core of the Biblical story.

I believe perspectives presented to me. Here is an adage I relate to: Reach out, share your truth, tell someone, This is who I am. This is what I stand for. Hold me to it.

I am not trying to change your mind. I am interested in hearing your perspective.

Many of my students are Muslim. It's a beautiful faith, isn't it.

It is a non question. It is silly to ask a non believer if he wants the Koran to not be true.
